Default Sound issues on SATA DVD Drive

Right I am running Vista Ultimate and a SATA Pioneer 212 Writer. When I installed it I put something on here asking why it didn't have a socket for an audio lead or was it done another way. I was assured it would work but I put a DVD in before and I have no fucking sound. There is no normal audio cable socket on the drive so how do I get the damned thing working?

Is there something I have to do in Windows?

    Cheers

SATA does not need the audio cable cos it can send much more info, Nor does ide really but it can be better on older systems. Sounds like a software / drivers issue tbh.

Does sound work on everything else?
It might be a codec problem if so.

You tried turning the volume up on ur speakers? or dvd player software.

Try looking in the control panel under sound and then goto advanced. The one for CD player should be turned up if it is not already...

Normally you just plug it in and it works.

Will check the settings for CD when I get home but everything else works yeah. VLC, Media player for wmvs etc but this is the first time I have actually watched a DVD on it to be honest.

If the drive works for other stuff then it will just be some weird software needing a tinkle.
Try playing a cd on it or something using a different player maybe. good luck
