    Default Dreamweaver CS3 won't install

    I have Vista Home premium, I am trying to install Dreamweaver CS3. It is installing directly out of a .exe Adobe Extractor. I keep getting the same errors:

    Anyone have any ideas to what could be the problem? I have sufficient space and am logged in as admin.

    Cheers

    Got it fresh off newzbin today. I did have version 8 installed I think, it would open and function fine but would close without warning and without saving :@ So I got a new version to try and I am having these problems.

    Sometimes if I try to rip a DVD to my C:\ it says I can't, but if I rip it to say, C:\FILM\ it will work :s

    Have you tried installing using a different user account? I seem to remember having issues installing a newer version of dreamweaver because it somehow knew my old version was a dodgy copy so it wouldn't install the new version? Might be worth deleting the old user profile that it was installed with and installing again using a new admin account?

    Worth a try anyway.

    here's a brief about msiexec

    Windows Installer forms part of the Microsoft management technologies and manages installation and maintenance of applications throughout their lifecycle.
    Most administrators were first introduced to this technology with Microsoft Office 2000, and much of the initial development of the Windows Installer technology was actually completed as part of the Office 2000 product development.
    Windows Installer comprises
    •A core executable (MSIEXEC.EXE)
    •A service (on Windows NT and 2000) that can manage installation tasks that require elevated privileges
    •A number of Application Programming Interfaces (API’s) that developers can use to incorporate Windows Installer functionality into their applications
    so you can for example;
    msiexec /i blah.msi (to install)
    msiexec /u blah.msi (uninstall)
    or like msiexec /i blah.msi transforms=blah.mst

    and you know what strings are?! for example in dos cd c:\porn ("c:\porn" would be the string)

    if it were an .msi or microsoft installer based executable but as you said its an Adobe Extractor (basically a self extracting zip) i would suggest trying;
    F:\NEWSLEECHER DOWNLOADS\alt.binaries.warez\Adobe Dreamweaver CS3\Adobe.Dreamweaver.CS3.exe /?

    That launched it but it wne through exactly the same as usual

    I also turned off User Account Control so now I can drag and drop direct to C: whereas it was prohibited before still no use!

    The installer does say this before installation if that helps?:
    you will need access to your original installation media
    Cheers

    I did wonder why it said unable to access SOURCE at c:\new folder\payloads\blahblahblah...

    how big is this executable?!

    if it's of a considerable size I would as a last hope try creating c:\new folder\payloads pasting the executable there and re-running but failing that I'd look for another version of Dreamweaver CS3..

    About 250MB mate, I tried making a New Folder in C: and sopying the exe to the C: root and running to no avail earlier.

    After searching the net it seems this is a major problem with all CS3 apps and Vista. Photoshop CS3 installed fine but apparently that somehow might be preventing this install. Very odd so I reinstalled v.8 but for some reason that randomly closed itself after an hour working on it earlier!
