    Default wireless usb advice needed

    i have just bought this usb device for my old compaq evo http://www.ebuyer.com/product/120492 now my evo dont have usb 2.0 and i cant get it to work is it faulty or is it me thats faulty lol also bought the matching router for this but i did get sum message sayin there was a power surge at usb port but the device is seen by pc ok and seems to work but wont connect any help welcome.

    The dongle is 1.1 compatible so should work, have you installed the software and drivers first before plugging it in, I am presuming you are using xp? on the lappy, if you have sp2 then you should be able to use usb2.0, even so it should still work on usb 1.1.

    ya done that and have sp2 i havent rigged the router up yet as i wanted to see if i cud connect to my niegbours net first

    im just wondering about this power surge message i got when i first plugged it in??

    if you didnt get it to work m8 download latest drivers (if any available)uninstall the old ones and reinstall.

    sorted it thanks guys for input, funny that the usb device came with old drivers yet the router (same make) came with extra cd with usb drivers on it but updated ! for any usb devices you may add to it lol anyway the prob was i could connect to networks (or see em anyway) only at front of my house and not the back were i was playing with it so the range is a bit short ill put that down to my lappy not havin usb 2.0
