Have I wasted my money an a TMC?

Hi all
I bought myself a TMC receiver for my sat nav unit last week but after one weeks running, with daily use, I'm yet to see a single traffic message.

After reading posts on here I got a myguide 3100, really pleased with it but I've stuck this TMC on and I'd hoped to get traffic running but it just keeping rotating around, looking for signal, sometimes says TMC present but never locks on and downloads any info.

I've now started to read up a bit and it looks like TMC is really poor in the UK. I'd really welcome some advice on how I could get it working or failing that I'm going to return the TMC as the hardware isn't fit for purpose.

I have one but not had time to test it yet. Wasn't aware it was poor signal over here

Thanks for replying, I did make some progress with this.

It wasn't a signal problem that I had, this issue is that myguide do not pay the necessary subscription for the TMC service on their software to work in the UK. This was confirmed by myguide themselves - in the UK their software will not download TMC info not matter what the signal strength.

You can work around this by using the original igo software rather than the myguide version. I am now using igo software and get great TMC info, although I am using igo - I believe the trick is using the right license.db file.

It might be possible drop a license file from the igo software into place to get the myguide software to use TMC but I never tested this, I just use igo.
