Just about to take the plunge with buying some whey protein. Just wondered if im right to be buying the isolate version.
All depends on funds really mate, end of the day they do the same thing. Isolate is more pure so you use slightly less, but it is more expensive. Concentrate is less pure, and cheaper.
Also, if you get concentrate then you can cock about with cooking and the rest and not feel like you are throwing away 5 sobs a time.
Fair enough, ill just try the cheaper stuff for now and see if it helps with the fat loss.
I was reading Mens Health and one of the cover blokes said that he has a protein shake just before he sleeps as this makes sure the body doesnt fast overnight. Is this a good idea plus will it help with hunger pangs i get late at night?

Having a shake/high protein meal before sleep means your body has some fuel, this helps to prevent it from going into a catabolic state and burning muscle. So either having a shake before bed or a chicken/tuna salad will be good, plus it will stop you from feeling hungry.
I've just been reading the myprotein forum and there seems to be codes so that you get 5% off your first order. Is that linked to individuals like a referral and if so anyone wanna give me a code to order with.
Does anyone know of any recipes on how to mkae your own protein shake for bulking up? THinking this might be a healthier and maybe cheaper alternative to buying the stuff
J.D.: Yes it is refferal but I don't have my code, someone else probably will though.
Eggon: go onto muscle talk and search toxic toffee shake (TT shake).
Well just received my unflavoured whey protein. Great service from myprotein.co.uk. Quick question just had my first shake but it takes like skimmed milk and was wondering if there is anything i can add to improve the flavour a bit.
Honey
coffee
options hot chocolates
milkshake mixes (nesquick/cheaper own brand alternative)
Those are just off the top of my head, it's cheap as chips, so experiment with what you like.
just thinking of starting this to help in my training thanks for the info
The price difference with the bulk stuff is 4 quid, might just give it a shot next time i order but im glad it tastes soo good with a bit of honey added.
Is that it? Wow.
If you want, you could try sending an e-mail asking for a few taster packets for a small fee, I don't know if they will do it, but it means you can taste a load of flavours without splashing out on a whim.
Great post!
Has anyone tried these protein shakes from Holland And Barret? They are on offer at the moment plus you can get 15% quidco on them.
Are these good for adding weight? would you recommend adding anything with them i.e banana, honey etc

The H&B one is filled with shitty sweeteners, thickeners and other bits and bobs of shit. It also makes you fart like a bastard.

hi guys - im thinking of getting some why protein.
I've been at the gym for about 7-8 months now and have made a lot of progress but want to take it to the next level. I do mainly cardio, and light weights with lots of reps. Would taking a whey protein supplment before my workout help me with my ultimate goal (reduce body fat)? i do more cardio than weights, and play badminton and squash once a week also (and gym 3 times a week).
thanks

I was looking at recovery because thats my biggest issue getting enough fuel to repair after my workout. I think im getting a quiet a bit of protein in my diet now but the recovery is an issue, the one thing that is swaying me towards milk and whey is well the money and you can have it whenever pre bedtime is my biggest hunger strikes time but impact whey isolate look sperfect for straight protein!
