is a keyboard and mouse better on fps than a joypad???

the last time i used a keyboard to play a computer game was when i was about 12 at my mates, he had the joystick and i got the short straw and had to use the keyboard, which was shit

anyway, i'm well into gaming on the 360 but i have a mate at work whos into pc gaming and all he goes on about is how mouse n keyboard is miles better.

i obviously tell him i'd kick his ass with a joypad, but he's got me thinking

what do you reckon??

I rememeber I killed gta vice city insanely quick on the pc, but never clocked it on the pw2. I put that down to keyboard/mouse being quicker to find targets to shoot.

I can never play pc games that use the keyboard, because its always something like a, z ; etc, lol. ... Not something simple like a, b, c

FPS are unplayable on a pad as far as im concerned, the level of accuracy for aiming given by a mouse is just too important in that type of game. I remember playing doom 2 on the keys and wondering why anyone would need a mouse but once someone set it up for me, you just cant look back.

Ive recently started playing crysis on the PC after a couple of years gap from pc gaming and a lot of gaming on the 360. I must admit I think I prefer the pad but only because the button layout is easier to remember. Aiming as long as its well configured is fine on a pad especially in Halo.

I would love to see someone mod that just because of how wrong it would look

However, I thinkg the difference is that the ps/xbox have custom made controllers that have been extensively designed with multiple inputs all easily accessible.

Would be nice if the ancient joystick port could be replaced with a ps or xbox one, but then all you hard core gamers would spend the rest of this millenium arguing about why we made the wrong choice.

While keyboard/mouse is a far better option for top performance, I find joypad being more comfortable, especially for laid back gaming.

Wiimote is for me a compromise of both, I hope for similar controllers of all coming consoles.
