upgrade FROM 3.02 OE-B to ????? 3.90?

as stated, i have psp with 3.02 OE-B f/w. my psp is the very very first one (obv. fat) to come out years ago and my mate done the f/w for me. i now want to update so i would appreciate it if anyone can tell me -

a - the newest/best f/w to work on my fat old psp? is 3.90 only for new slim ones?
b - how the hell do i do it? do i need to downgrade first? do i need a special umd? i would love an idiots guide tutorial - again , i have googled but can only find ones dealing with downgrading

i have done searches on here and googles but cant find the answers i need

can anyone please help

Worked a treat... no problems at all just ran "M33 Installation Noob Proof for installing from se_oe_m33" browsed to games / memory card and ran the update

From 3.02 OE-A to 3.52 M33

Gonna do the network update once I transfer my files back over... 26 mins to wait

Everything is working fine, iso's loading etc but the network update downloads but wont apply.

Working on it now.. it's gonna be a late one but it's getting connected to the ps3 tonight

Just found this link once you update from 0E-A or B to M33 then M33-4 apparently then to http://digital-forums.com/showthread...light=psp+1.50 to get to 3.71

done the above with no problems plus 3.71 M33-4

downloaded the file, it gave me a zip with 2 files in - 1 read me. 1 install exe. ran the exe - let it copy the files to my psp - well, theres only 1 file an eboot one in a directory - NOW WHAT? instructions say run m33installer but how/where? there is no file called this in the zip or in the mem card??? i knew i would have a chew on with this!!! please help!

Hi,
Click the direct download link in post 4, you'll get the noob M33 yada yada zip..
Backup your memory stick, format it from the psp,reset to default settings then put the psp in usb mode, note which drive letter it has, run the "M33 Installation Noob Proof for installing from se_oe_m33" from the pc putting the psp drive letter into it, this will copy the update file to your memory card, browse to games/memory card and the update should be in there.

Possible problem
If your using vista you have to run the "M33 noob...exe" as administrator or it goes through the motions of doing it but doesn't copy the update file to PSP/GAME

aahhhh... i be thats what it is - i am not on vista BUT i am not admin on mmy work laptop, its xp but i am just a user - maybe thats what it is/could be? if so, think you can email me the file (beacytan@msn.com) and tell me where to put it manually? only file i get was the one in game150 (i think) which is eboot.phb or summet. what do ya think?

Not sure if it went in the 150 folder or just game, it should just appear in your psp games memory card browser

You may as well go the last step to make future updates easier 3.71 M33-4 is required to step up further in the future I read..

It's a piece of p1ss ya nearly there you only need do the Blue steps below

2. Download the respective M33 package, M33 update, and the official update listed earlier.
3. Extract the M33 package and copy UPDATE to "X:\PSP\GAME" of your PSP, overwriting anything already there.
4. Rename the official update to "371.PBP" or "380.PBP" and copy it to "X:\PSP\GAME\UPDATE"
5. Go to Game and run the “M33 Update”
6. (Slim Users Ignore this Step) If your PSP is a TA-082 or TA-086, you will be asked to unpatch key 5, let the installer do so.
7. Once you get into the update a while, the PSP will start what looks like a Sony Firmware update. Do not worry, it is installing custom firmware, but it's hijacking Sony's update mechanism
8. Once it is done, your PSP will restart
9. Confirm you are at the correct M33 (Settings->System Settings->System Information->System Software)
10. It is now time to install the M33-4/5 patch
11. Delete the M33 Update directory (X:\PSP\GAME\UPDATE)
12. Copy the new UPDATE folder X:\PSP\GAME)
13. Go to Game and run “3.71 M33-4" or "3.80 M33-5"

think 3.90 has the skype update but only work with slim psp - am i right there anyone in the know?

not bothered about skype but would like the remote play function to use on my ps3 so if anyone can help or advise please


i have all the files ready to upgrade but dont want to take the plunge till i am sure


plus if it goes all ok i can do another 3 psps too
