"Where you are is what you eat. When I'm in London I'll have beans on toast for lunch. On holiday what? Tapas? Go on then I'll have a bit. You eat whatevers in that area"

If the property hasn't come with a gas safety record ,or a landlords certificate you could question the validity of the instalation by a corgi registered installer ,it is now illegal for anyone not gorgi registered to install a gas appliance ,but if it is a back boiler it may be older than the laws in lace today ,i would say speak to a solicitor dealing with house sales to question whether you should have had a corgi certificate along with the house ,and finally report the findings to corgi (installations like this need stopped ).

M8 thats not a bad price for a complete new system and 30 cdi (will give you adequate supply of hot water for your size house). I have been doing commercial plumbing and pipe fitting for the last year, but when I did house bashing Worcester boilers were about £800-900, they are reliable boilers with a 5 year guarantee and you are doing the right thing by having new pipework, will save you potential problems in the future with scale build up and heat loss.
Your system shuold last you 10-15 years so £3100 is not a bad investment, just make sure he flushes it out and then adds inhibitor when he's finished.

Really ? My family run a property development company in the north west
and they had to stop using Worcester boilers due to the high failure rate.
Infact I was at a recent development the other week comprising of 22 flats all
with various Worcester models installed, and about 7 of the 22 installed
had already screwed up and thats even before people had bought the flats
and put the boiler to good use.
Having recently switched to Ferroli boilers I can honestly say they haven't
encountered the same level of problems....yet ! .
On a more positive note Worcester do have very reliable customer service
and that is based on my own personal experience as I am the one reporting
all the failures lol and they are absolute pleasure to deal with.

You Failed To Maintain Your Weapon
Worcester give good incentives to plumbers who use them so bear that in mind. I had a Baxi fitted after recommendation from a heating engineer and it's been great.
Drugs are only a problem to people who can't afford them.

I agree with the above Worcester have went downhill in past years ,Ferroli are cheap and maintainable (get what you pay for ) bit like Vokera ,chauffoteaux and valiant have the best names on the market ,since the condensing boilers have arrived .Chauffoteaux used to have one of the worst names at one point but managed to turn it around producing some high quality and easy fixable boilers .Potterton are run of the mill ,with expensive parts .If i had a choice it would be valiant all the way ,preferred system would be a combi-mate or megaflo .All food for thought

I'm also in the middle of pricing a new combi, found this site, guy seems to know his stuff, wont help with price but might give you a better idea of what to ask when talking to your plumber
http://www.miketheboilerman.com/
we've had our vokera for 5 years and it's broke down 3 times cost 200+ both times to repair. italian shit
Well, after all your advice, and thank you I do. I have managed to get a Worcester 30cdi boiler (3 year waranty and 10yr on the heat exchanger), 6 double rads, roof flue, gas pipe re-routing, removal of all old shite and new pipework throughout...£2700...local CORGI plumber...nice guy. Have been to see some of his work at another site...he starts in May.
Cheers for that contact Nibb, just didnt want to drag him all the way down here for a possibly wasted trip.

BUMP!
Hey guys...not posted on here for a while so hello again! Just been looking at all your useful boiler advice as i'm pretty clueless about this kind of malarky and our boiler looks like it's on it's last legs.
We've got a standard 2 bed terrace with 6 rads. Looking to replace our old combi boiler hopefully keeping it in the same place to a decent condenser combi. Our current boiler is in the bathroom in a cupboard but a friend told me she had to move hers out of her bathroom because it was now against regs to be in a bathroom???Is this true?I've not found anything to suggest this in my other research...
Also...would anyone happen to be able to recommend a CORGI plumber from the Bristol area as i'm about to start getting quotes and would prefer someone recommended to do the work???
Thanks in advance

We're gettin a new Boiler "top of range Vokera one" and new TRV's installed on Sat by a mate of mine. £1000 all in
Sorry mate, Leeds i'm afraid. Just been and picked the boiler up and about to get some TRV's from screwfix.
It is illegal for a boiler to be installed directly into a bathroom (build a cupboard around it and ventilate it to the outside)

I gotta old back boiler and was also interested in getting it replaced.
Anyone have any recommended corgi peeps near Luton?
