Help to find a tune

A few years ago I was in a bar/cafe place and I heard a song which I have wanted for ages but never tracked it down. The info I've got is vague but hopefully someone will be able to help me out here.

The song style is Country and Western, it has deep bassline as they were playing it through some pretty good speakers and it sounded quite rich. The vocals are male and it's a pretty slow tempo. The lyrics, mainly the chorus are about how some men believe in God but others believe in John ????? (something???).

Sorry this is such a poor description, it may ring a bell with someone though?...here's hoping.

It does ring a bell somewhere in my head but cannot remember where I have heard those lyrics, one that comes to mind as being similar is Don Williams "I believe in you", same type of song as you described so it might help (or not

Can you remember even a tiny fragment of the lyrics mate? Is what you have put correct?

Lol I was in Phuket town, in a cafe having a beer while my missus and my mum were shopping. It was about 4 years ago and they had some big Cerwin Vega in this place, and I remember thinking "This tune sounds fucking wicked for a country and western number"...I think it brought out the redneck in me
