    Whine Biggest gaming regrets .....

ok just curious to know what your biggest regrets are with gaming, ie: selling stuff, giving it away, buying a shit computer/console/game or just generally ruining stuff because you didn't know any better.

Mine for me was selling my Sega Saturn package because at the time I was proper skint and really needed the money

It was a mint boxed Saturn bought from ebay for around £35, it came with a load of originals (nothing too rare), extra official controller, scart cable, import games cartridge. and all documentation, etc. To be honest when it arrived I took it out the box to try, it worked then I packed it away again. Some 6 months later I picked up a chip for about £5 and a 4-in-1 Action Replay for it for about £7. I'm really crap with a soldering iron but the Saturn chip points were huge and from what I can remember there was only 4 of them so it was a piece of piss.

After a while I had managed to accumulate a huge collection of games on CDR including Panzer Dragoon Saga, Radiant Silvergun, Elevator Action, Metal Slug, Shining Force III, Dragon Force, Dracula X and a shitload of other quite rare games and even though it spent most of it's life boxed up I really wish I hadn't have sold it since it took me so long to build up the collection.

Also when I was a kid I had a few of them tabletop games like Firefox, Caveman, Amidar etc. Used to love those things and I just wish I had took better care of them instead of covering them in f**kin stickers and then when I got bored with them I would take them apart to see how they worked and put them back to again - often they didn't work.

I also wish I hadn't sold my mint copy of Zelda: A Link to the Past for a fiver many years ago because again I really wanted the money

Right I'm off to dry my eyes now!

Paying £570 for a 3DO, blowing up my black Japanese Sega Dreamcast, selling my Jap PSX copies of Hermie Hopperhead and Kyuiin (Vacuum Cleaner Kids) for a tenner for the pair...

The list of balls ups, bum deals and necessity for cash have cost me dear over the last 25 years of gaming. I'm off for a lie down, I don't feel too well now.

Probably getting rid of my Amiga 500. I've never yet found a really good emulator for it, which I can for my old Spectrum and BBC Micro, even my old SNES.

Gutted for you m8. I still have my Super Famicom in my loft in it's box (the casing has gone a bit yellow) and I still have my Super Pro Fighter hanging around up there as well. Would love to dig it out one day and give it a go but using an emu is all too easy these days even though it's not the same.

Selling my SNES so I could afford Ocarina of Time on N64. My only saving grace was I sold it without Secret of Mana

I saved my FFVII game on a cheapo multi page ps1 memory card, you guessed it - the card decided it would be a good laugh to lose all of its game saves. I'd played so much of the game I was gutted & never went back to it.

I got an original Jap Playstation when they first came out, one of my sisters was in Hong Kong at the time and she picked one up for me. I think I paid like £400 for the thing with Ridge Racer, Toshinden and this Jap Final Fight clone called Hot Blooded Family or something - they were all the games out at the time.

Got the thing back and low and behold all the games were in black and white because there was no proper scart lead out at the time. Ended up buying some scart lead from an ad I see one of the magazines, cost £45 and when it arrived it was just a home-made splice job, scart cable with a tiny bit of plastic I had to wedge in the socket and line up with only a few pins in the Playstation, the whole thing was covered in black electrical tape, it worked but it did need jiggling around to get it sorted.
