I work in a busy high school and we use Ontrack Easy Recovery to recover data from Pen Drives and Floppies etc. Even used it to recover data from a MP3 player hard drive.

Does a decent job on data recovery but never had to use it to recover anything as critical as an Exchange DB.

Wouldnt hurt to give it a whirl for nothing.

Ontrack are very expensive and they would probably use the same sort of recovery tools. The best part is that they will still charge you £1000 even if they cant get the data you want.

They will just dump some data on some DVD's and only give you back the original disks if you pay first.

are the datafiles and log files still there if so you are half way there you can use the Eseutil utility to check your data is there even with no store mounted.

    What exactly do you have?
    Did the disks fail?
    Can you access any data?

guys thanks for the prompt feedback for all your records - i had a copy of the database ans used eseutil to repair the database and then i managed to get hold of Ontrack PowerControls v4.0 which is awesome it manages to open the database then you can export each individual database file to a pst and import....
if anyone ever has a similar problem Ontrack PowerControls v4.0 is the software you need.
thanks again - the organsiation were very pleased, especially when organisations out there try and charge you over 700 quid for 100 mailboxes.
