    Help Using other peoples internet

Ok, I Know this is very wrong and I am a bad person for doing it....But, I have been using other peoples internet connection for free for the past few weeks. This is mainly down to the price of reconnecting my BT line and that I am only going to be in my flat for the next 2 months, and no internet provider will sign me up for 2 months!!

Anyway, I can only connect to networks that are not passoword or WEP protected. There is only one of these that my laptop picks up and the signal comes and goes!!

Does anyone have any software or know any tricks that will let me get into some one elses Internet?

I have a funny feeling that this post is not going to get met with positive feedback and will probably get deleted, but its worth a go

I'd be interested to know this as well. Just for technical reasons i'd like to try and hack my own wireless connection, not anyone elses, nooooo sirr

What mobile phone have you got? I can add mobile internet to my N95 contract on T-Mobile a month at a time if I want and its only £12 a month for 3gig limit.

So you are asking for help with something that is illegal!?

If people dont WEP or WPA encrypt their wireless connection then thats down to their stupidity, even then tho it could be argued that you are stealing.

However, to blatently ask for ways to crack this encryption is a no-no IMHO

I posted a similar thread a while ago for a similar reason.

Basically you need to get a half decent wifi card and a very good ariel around 12dbi
and you should pick up a good selection of un secured networks.

Since I upgraded my ariel I have a choice of several un secured networks which are on 24/7...at the moment Im connected
to a guy over a mile away down the road.

I dont recommened trying to hack a secured connection as its obviously secure for a reason, and is likely to lead you into a lot of bother.

eggon - just re-word your OP to hack yourself for testing purposes.

Or better still use the search function.

Well I cant say what is the best to get, but I got mine from maplin and it works
flawless, and increased my network range a hell of a lot.

I needed one quickly so got mine locally, but you will probably find better from online stores such as ebuyer, aria etc.

We are indebted to The Mirror for the latest example of mobile data charging madness, this time in England.
Ian Simpson, a factory worker from Darlington, downloaded TV programmes onto his laptop using his mobile phone as a modem - and racked up charges of £27,322 in just one month. He says he may go bankrupt unless Vodafone "takes a sensible approach" to his bill.
    document.write('\x3Cscript src="http://ad.uk.doubleclick.net/adj/reg.comms.4159/wireless;'+RegExCats+GetVCs()+'pid='+RegId+RegDT+';'+RegKW+'maid='+maid+';test='+test+';pf='+RegPF+';dcove=d;sz=336x280;tile=3;ord=' + rand + '?" type="text/javascript">\x3C\/script>');
Simpson thought he had an all-you can eat deal for unlimited web use and "probably" downloaded 20-30 TV shows and four albums. But his £41.50 per month contract maxed out at 120 megabytes of downloads per month, enough for most users, Vodafone says. "Few customers exceed the fair usage. But it seems clear Ian has run up these charges legitimately," a spokesman told The Mirror.
So Simpson was on the wrong package and cannot be accused of acting intelligently in this matter. But his phone bill illustrates the outrageous expense of mobile data - downloads were priced at up to £18 per minute.
Warning bells should have sounded sooner at Vodafone, which cut Simpson off four weeks into his download spree. In its defence, Voda told The Mirror that "the intensity of Ian's downloading was such that by the time our systems flagged anything up he had already racked up a massive bill".
The company will "try to come to some sympathetic arrangement" with Simpson. And it advises its customers to "never use a mobile as a modem".
This month, a Canadian man ran up an $85,000 bill, for also using his mobe as a PC modem. Bell Canada showed mercy and reduced charges to $3,243, which it based on "the best data plan available for using cellphones as a modem". ®

look in the security section, as soon as I get my laptop back I will post up some pictures of my home made antenna and some tutorials on cracking wep, wpa that kind of thing....

but some of it has already been covered

    see ya soon

btw try wording your question as

" I cannot connect to my router, i have lost the wep key and the reset button on the router is broken, the signal on my router has dropped significantly so I need some way to boost"

in the mean time try getting yourself a usb stick, 2 gig or more is prefered and I'll get you booting directly to backtrack3 and then the fun can begin...

will also show you how to grab hotmail passwords, metasploit, that kind of thing....
