Cleaning the sensor on a compact camera (G9)

Hi all,

I'm just going through some pics I took on holiday this week and i'm seeing the tell-tale signs of dust on my G9's sensor. Now this is a bit tricky, as clearly, unlike the DSLR, i can't just clean it with some swabs and be done with, so what are my options for cleaning the sensor on a compact? Should I call canon up and demand they clean it as really, i'd expect a closed compact not to have any chance of sensor dust?

Any other options I can do as don't really want to send it away as i want it for my New Zealand holiday in a week!

Sure you`ve done a Google yourself but I did one anyway and found this:

Doesn`t look too good, 2 people with the same prob as you returned to Canon and got a replacement..

Yeah saw a few threads from people who said they'd found dust on the G9 but no solution offered but to send it back ( Guess i'll do it after I get back from NZ as can't really wait for it to get back from Canon
