54 reg A3 can diagnostic correction

can the mileage be corrected through the 16 pin diagnostic socket?
tried today and can read the mileage ok, reads in km but when new mileage entered using tacho mileage on dash stays the same.And locks me out until i drive about 60 miles.
Done a 05 golf same way with no probs.
Any ideas ?

You are using a Diga Consult? If so use the CAN dongle if you are not doing so. If so, it may have to be done via eeprom.

It can be done via obd with VAG-COM DMA. With the DMA version you can read and re-program the eeprom via OBD.

i did a 54 reg a4 other day, went without can
but im sure this was the change over year ?!?
