2 min search says dealextreme is cheapest but currently out of stock (from experience though they get stock in very quickly)
price is $39.00
which converted on xe.com = £19.7594

some info for ya taken from dealextreme website
Special Warranty: This is a DIY part requiring professional installation. DX can only provide the part as-is because we do not have the tools in-house to QC these things one by one. While there are many customers receiving perfect products, there are also reports on defective units. These are Sharp products, and all screens are 100% pre-tested by the manufacturer and are packaged in a hard protective carton box for shipment. Should your screen become defective within 1 month of delivery, DX will replace the screen for you and you will be responsible for the shipping the product back to our HK office via an online trackable method (buy insurance to guard against package lost while in transit). DX will cover the shipping cost of the replacement shipment after receiving the defective unit.
.
* Bright/dark spots (aka dead pixels) disclosure: as is the case with many original PSP screens, these LCD screens *may* suffer from a few dead pixels. This is not covered by warranty. In the meantime we do our best to test and ship perfect screens.

hmmm seems these screens really are rarer then rocking horse doings!
PSP TFT Screen (£39.99)
PSP LCD Backlight (£9.99)
Not exactly cheap, but they are in stock! However I have never used them before so I would pay by credit card. The site also doesn't mention if its for the phat PSP or slim, so you might have to e-mail them and ask!
You only need the LCD Backlight (£9.99) if the screen doesn't light up.
EDIT: Slim PSP screens do seem to be rare as fuck! Phat PSP screens are selling on ebay for just £20 delivered.

Sony are running an exchange program at the moment for faulty PSP's or PS3's as long as the warranty sticker is intact and you've got the battery and charger then they'll send out a refurbished one via parcelforce and pick up your broken one for FREE
Sony's Number 08705 998877, or use the cheap geographic Sony number 01923 653598.
You do realise thats called a WARRANTY?! And it only lasts 12 months unless you pay for this.
And for the record...it doesn't matter if the warranty is or is not in tact! The courier swaps it at your door and doesn't even check!
Also this does NOT cover accidental damage, only faulty hardware/workmanship! If you dont pay for that thing I linked to above (which does cover accidental damage) then it costs you £60 (I think) to get replaced.

I had my psp over year and it stopped working (bad downgrade) , rung them up and said that I had it about 8 months and that I couldnt find the receipt and they happily swapped it , I never had that warranty at all
But they still assumed it was in warranty though! The way you said it, it didn't matter if it was out of warranty and they knew about it!
Im surprised they didn't ask you for the serial no. because they can check warranty status from that without the need for a reciept.
When the console is purchases and swiped through a checkout it gets registered that the console with serial no. xxxx was purchased from xxxx on xxxxx....
Thats how it works with the 360 too. Hence why you dont need a reciept.
Im not sure thats how the serial number thing works mate, they can only tell the manufacturing date from the serial number not when it was sold. but even with this it does not tell you when the console was sold. take for e.g. catalogue companies or shops who accept returns, that returned console could be sitting in there for over a year and then sold
They 100% can for the 360!
If you dont believe me and you have a 360 then register it online and look at the warranty information....
When the item is sold it gets scanned at the checkout, so they can easily tell where and when the item was sold.
As for being returned then resold, they can just as easily scan it back into the system when it gets returned. They will actually have to scan it back into the system to keep their stock levels correct if nothing else!

I used to work at game up until about 6 months ago and most of the time the barcodes on the boxes didn't scan properly so we just used to scan the shopfloor dummy boxes.
but hey things could have changed in he last 6 months.
If you're scanning dummy boxes, then im not sure what'll happen, but im sure most of the other big retailers (esp Argos, cos they dont have dummy boxes in the back where they are all kept) will scan the actual box you get.
I got my 360 from Argos, so that might be why my warranty information is accurate on the M$ website, cos they will have scanned the box for my 360 and not just a dummy one.
