How much to replace a boiler relief valve?

Right as a pleasant surprise coming back from holiday i found my boiler over flow pipe was dripping loads and the pressure reading is high so a quick look on some plumbing forum and it looks like the problem is a faulty boiler relief valve. How much should it cost me to get a plumber out to replace it?

Oh and does anyone know a good plumber in east London?

errrrmmm... isn't a boiler relief valve supposed to relieve itself when the pressure is high... surely that is the point???

I don't think its supposed to constantly leak water in the overflow pipe.

the reason for it leaking watter is the high pressure thats what its designed to do
suspect the filler valve.

I haven't had my boiler checked in ages so really think there is something wrong, how much should it cost to get a plumber to check it out?

It is if you have high pressure... otherwise the pressure would lead to a big bang!!!

Your problem is the build up of high pressure... not the relief valve that is saving your bacon!

Sounds like the filling loop is bypassing ,as for the dripping ,when the blow off is released it normally takes some dirt out of the bottom of pipework due to the surge of pressure ,some can get trapped in the PRV seat causing a drip .To fix this means discharging some more water out of it to clear the seating .

are u sure ur not reading the wrong gauge m8 there 2 one black and one orange(just as a guide where to fill) pressure relief fault or as suggested filling loop open! but wouldnt be much more than £100 to service and repair if its to fault
