Do you know who's directing the films, and who is the producer?
Come on Pete.
As for the Hobbit 2.... well we will see I suppose.
Guillermo Del Toro directing. Ah....Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh producing. May not be so bad then...but still, why a second?

I'm not too sure about a second, however it could be a useful gap filler if done correctly as there is what, 80 years between the Hobbit and LOTR?
Blame the slags at New Line, they loveeeeeee the money!
Init. I just hope they make a good job of it. The Hobbit is a superb story and, like LOTR, it needs telling well.
The cast will need to be the same too...Gandalf as Ian McKellan, Hugo Weaving as Lord Elrond and, most importantly, Ian Holm as Bilbo. I dont think the cast other than these 3 really makes much of a difference.

Needs to have the music done by Leonard Nimoy.
hahahahahahahahah yes!!! Please god can this be the opening track to the film
wtf was he thinking when he made that?
If they are planning 2 films then they must be planning to tell the whole story, so expect a similar style to LotR. Ian Holm is too old to play Bilbo, will have to be someone else. Another unknown...
- Plan for Tomorrow - Live for today - Hail to the King Baby -
They could still use Ian Holm, a bit of slap works wonders!
Bilbo aged well for a Took, so even if he does look older than what the books described him as I'm sure it would not be that big a problem.
The Hobbit might just be cut in two, it was a pretty long trek afterall. I personally can't wait for this, as long as it is the same calibre as LOTR, that certainly will be hard to pull off but you never know.
Ian McKellan has confirmed on his webite that he WILL be doing the Hobbit which will be released in 2010.
Sir Ian McKellen is known for his very active and up-to-date website, so we can pretty much say that this is "legit".

I'm not so impressed by the lack of Peter Jackson. The film has the potential to be shockingly bad, and I'm rather worried that it will be.
Having said that, it could be awesome - there's some great battles in The Hobbit, and if they put as much or anywhere near as much as they did in LOTR Trilogy, then I'm there on opening night.
And, having said that, even Jackson wimped out of full-on fight scenes, particularly the final two in Return of the King, at the Black Gate and Minas Tirith.
*cough*...thanks for changing the thread title someone (Rap)

Here's hoping this will be a good one.
The book is obviously a classic, and I could easily see this being split between 2 films.
Here's hoping they use Andy Serkis for Gollum.
