Default Regal suspended for two months..

BRITAIN’S top wrestler has been suspended by the WWE for a SECOND drugs violation.

William Regal will be banned for two months and faces the sack if he gets caught out once more.

The WWE released a statement saying: “In accordance with its Substance Abuse and Drug Testing Policy, WWE has suspended Darren Matthews (William Regal) for 60 days for his second violation of the company’s policy.”

The test failure will be a huge blow for Regal, who was enjoying his most prominent role in years.

He recently won the prestigious King Of The Ring tournament and had a high profile on television as general manager of the company’s flagship Raw show.

The star, who has just turned 40, was also bidding to become Britain’s first ever WWE world champion telling The Sun: “I want people to get a chance to see me wrestle the top fellas and have some big time matches.”

It is not known what drugs Regal was taking.

His first suspension came last summer after he was caught buying anabolic steroids, Growth Hormone and a drug to counter their side-effects over the Internet and without a prescription.

William had previously claimed in his autobiography and numerous interviews that he hadn’t touched steroids since “dabbling” in his early 20s and certainly never while in the WWE.

The suspension of a top star shows how seriously the firm are taking the issue of steroid and painkiller abuse.

Boss Vince McMahon even recently replaced his testing company for not being strict enough and ordered that his wrestlers now give their urine samples completely naked and in front of a monitor.

The Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer confirms: “They have a new crew of monitors and the rule now is you have to be nude ‘from your ankles to your nipples’ and be watched when you pee.”

What an idiot!!!! seriously, the guy has had his first REAL push in wwe and he fucks it up by using whatever... Just an idiot!

im gutted. Regal was great in his role as GM, just as he was in 2001 in his Commisinor role. He was also looking great in the ring, his matches with Orton and CM Punk in the past few weeks were outstanding.

I just hope the WWE do with Regal what they did with Jeff Hardy and Kennedy, and thats bring him back as if nothing happened.

But im almost certain they wont.

I dont see the problem with steroid use in wrestling to be honest. It's not as if there use effects the outcome of the matches unlike other sports. It's entertainment

in the major leage of wrestling - The WWE - a perfomers look is 90% of what makes them succesful. They could be the worst wrestler in the world (Kahli for example) but if they look like a monster, they will be pushed to the moon.

Thats the reasons guys like Davey Boy Smith and Eddie Guererro took roids. Its also the reason they are no longer living.

Thats not the case with all wrestlers though. Regal doesnt even look like he takes gear, and they are a lot of other wrestlers too who dont look like they use anything yet they are also sucsessful.
I don't think Regal's steroid use helped his sucsess in any way, so where is the problem with his steroid use ?

Christ man, you need to do a bit of reading into things or at least pass puberty before posting again.

Its got sweet FA to do with regal. This could of been batista, HHH, edge etc. Look when RVD and Sabu were top of the tree 05/06 - they got busted for pot and were taken straight off the show, with RVD tipped to be taking the belt (or had the belt... my memory leaves me) - zero tollerance.

Its no drugs at all in wrestling as so many as passing away so young in the past years its clear they are having a serious knock on effect on people in later life.

Obviously thats prob not Vinces main concern, but the way the world is going now he has to be seen to be on the ball.

Its not all about Steriods and having super human bodies. Painkiller addiction is also a major problem in the wrestling world. If you miss a few shows, your place in the pecking order will drop and therefor your prospects of making to superstar status will diminish. The demands on wrestlers are so high that they have to mask their problems.

according to his autobigoraphy, William Regal was one such wrestler who had a massive painkiller addiction. So much so he went around the streets on christmas day trying to score some illegal painkillers just to get through the day.

according to a WWE spokewoman, 32 wrestlers have been suspended since the Wellness policy was brought into place in 2006.

heres is the list. You can garentee the vast majority of these were suspended for Steriod or some form of Human Growth Hormone.

Also how many of these have super human physiques? They have to take the drug just to keep their head above water.
    • Randy Orton (in August 2006 for failing a drug test due to steroids; continued receiving packages from Signature Pharmacy until February 2007, but wasn't suspended again because he had to wrestle John Cena for the WWE title at Unforgiven 2007 and WWE felt that he had "already served his time;" also, openly smoking marijuana backstage at a show in March 2006 was a behavioral suspension and didn't count as a strike),
    • Joey Mercury,
    • Rene Dupree (two-time offender),
    • Kurt Angle,
    • Rob Van Dam (due to a drug possession arrest),
    • Kid Kash,
    • Ryan Reeves,
    • Ryan O'Reilly (call-up to ECW roster relinquished),
    • Balls Mahoney (for painkillers),
    • Drew "Festus" Hankinson (when in developmental in late 2006),
    • Andrew "Test" Martin (later fired),
    • referee Chris Kay (two-time offender, later fired),
    • Jeff Hardy (two-time offender),
    • Chavo Guerrero (may be a two-timer, as he returned as soon as 60 days passed in November 2007),
    • Chris Masters (two-time offender, later fired),
    • Edge,
    • Funaki,
    • Gregory Helms,
    • Booker T (two-time offender),
    • Charlie Haas,
    • Mr. Kennedy,
    • Umaga,
    • William Regal (two-time offender),
    • John Morrison,
    • Gene Snitsky (apparently a drug failure as his name never came up during the Signature Pharmacy scandal),
    • Harry "DH" Smith,
    • Derrick Neikirk (later fired),
    • Neil "Chet the Jet" Bzibziak (later fired), and
    • Afa, Jr. (for attempting to cheat on a drug test with a realistic prosthetic penis).

By my count, that's 27 Wellness Policy offenders (at least that we know of) and at least 32 individual drug suspensions, so the WWE spokeswoman was being truthful when she said that there have been over 30 suspensions in the policy's history.

even more bad news for Regal:

In other Regal news, even though he's been living in the country since 1992, WWE Raw star William Regal is still not a legal U.S. citizen. A third strike on the Wellness Policy could be potentially devastating as he would be forced to be terminated from the company and in danger of not being able to stay in the country if he is unable to find a new full-time job.

Every other time Regal was let go, he would quickly get back on his feet and land a new job with another wrestling company within mere months if not weeks. After being let go from WCW in early 1998, he quickly landed a job with WWE. After being let go from WWE in April 1999, Regal landed a job with WCW two months later. After being let go from WCW in February 2000 because they had nothing for him, Regal was quickly hired by WWE and sent to Memphis Championship Wrestling for a short time before re-debuting in September of that year.

Nowadays, Regal's only other options are TNA and possibly Ring of Honor as they're pretty much the only U.S. companies signing wrestling talent for full-time work. It's possible that TNA could hire Regal, but that's far from a guarantee. If Regal were to be fired from WWE, it's either find a job with one of those two companies if he wants to continue wrestling, or possibly start looking for a new line of work.

After being let go from WWE in late 2006, Psicosis -- who is not a legal U.S. citizen -- was unable to land a job stateside and so he headed back to Mexico. Back in March, Psicosis got caught crossing the border to work an indy wrestling show using tourist papers. The authorities took away his tourist papers and he was deported back to Mexico as a result.
