    Default 04 Corsa Timing chain

    Hey all

The timing chain has gone on my 04 corsa and i have been reading up on the net that all 2004 corsas were recalled because they had dodgy timing chains.
The car has ony done 29k so it realy shouldnt have gone yet.
i have phoned them up and told them i know that these cars have been recalled but they are refusing to do it and saying that itll cost me over £500 because i havnt got service history.
I need help urgently before i go and get it done in local garage and then finding out i could have had it done for nothing by vauxhall.
    Cheers all.

May be worth checking what the script was with the original recall. This sounds like it points to a design failure which could occur whether car was maintened to schedule or not.

This site does have a legal section where you can receive advice regarding trying to claim against vauxhall, but you would need to fork out £25 vip membership to get access to that section.

when i had my corsa, they changed it as it was within the time scale they advised in the letter they sent out to me advising of the recall. you need to keep up the service history to not void the warrenty.

I found out the hard way, my 04 Corsa was 6-Months old and had done 14K when the timing chain had snapped... that was a 1.0 12v Energy model.

I fought with them to get them to fix it, they said it was my style of driving - after that was fixed I sold the car (It had 10 warranty issues in 6 months) and the month after it went I got a letter saying about the recall.

Back to a German car so I shouldn't have as much hassle again - but I'll see if I can find anything out for you.

Don't know if this is any good to you mate? It does not seem to show as an official recall though - I 100% got a letter about it and had the same problem though!

To be honest, £500 sounded very good.

The concequences could be very nasty indeed.

My m8 has had a corsa in today same year same problem. But the engin aint worth rebuilding on this 1 as 1 of the pistons have gone aswell with it.
Had a price for a new enging off vauxhall to the garage cost was £1;400+vat plus £1000 surcharge until the old enging goes back to them.

You get 5 hours book time to fit one m8 so it depends on the hourly rate they charge.
Personally I'd be getting hold of a service history book and getting it stamped somewhere
Drugs are only a problem to people who can't afford them.
