hey peeps

i have CoD4 and all is fine in single player mode however when i try to play online it wont let me. It is hard wired to a linksys WAG345G, the PS3 itself is fine when using browser etc, all other games get online just fine but CoD well no!!!
on start screen selecting multiplayer game....all good
next screen selecting....playonline.....page changes to the find game, private match etc screen.... music plays fine in the background as in its not on a loop or anything BUT i can NOT make any selections i cant choose private match or find game or anything i cant even press 0 to go back and i have to hard reset as it just freezes!

activision support is pants and the instructions on the site make no sense....try a different server!!!!

any ideas peeps?

What router have you got?

Try opening the ports on it see here for instructions http://www.portforward.com/english/r...outerindex.htm

Pick your router then click ps3 and it will take you through how to open the correct ports.

See if that works.

Buhahaha that's good that is, was taking the piss is why I have two 360's here unbanned and another on the way to crazy at some point

tried this m8 still no luck! tried to phone activision and they wont discuss online play over the phone and the email i sent re the issue a week aho still hasnt been answered!!!!

ok i turned the firewall on the router off, i guess this is ok as i have a firewall on the PC and you cant mash stick viruses on PS3 can ya?

anyway now it goes past the screen and says downloading game settings, or something very similar, but it hangs there?! well i think it does maybe i just aint kwaited long enough, but it was a good 10 minutes before i got pissed with it and turned it off!

any ideas guys? come on im getting close i can feel it!!!

downloadign game settings was a known problem.. it sorts itself out about 20 mins

hmmm prezzy i will give it a go , but looking through the previous posts on that thread it seems that you can get out of the screen once its gone to the downloading settings thing but this thing locks up and i have to hard reset!

well i will keep plugging away!

I tried this and it seems to have done the trick. My COD4 has not locked up for the past 5 days and it used to lock up daily. Will see how long it lasts for.
