    Help Best mail client?

    Hi all,

What mail client are you all using on OSX? I've tried the Mail client it comes with, it's ok, but have problems with IMAP over SSL on it. I was thinking of installing thunderbird on there, but before I do, wondered if there was something better I should be looking at (without having to install entourage?)

    Thanks

I'm using the standard Mail application fine - I used the IMAP function to transfer mail from Outlook on my PC to Mail on the Mac though with no problems.

If it is for home use the entourage will probably be ok, in the office it is not a patch on outlook. Because it uses webdav to connect and not MAPI it is slow and usually out of sync in some way or another with calendaring and public folders.

Mail is OK but i have not used it extensively and thunderbird is the same across platform so it is a good one to use if you still use a pc as well..!

    Thanks all.

I'm not sure what the problem was tbh, as the mac mail client didnt' give him a lot of information, just that it was unable to connect, but if i used a telnet client to connect i saw a response from server and same settings worked on my other laptop.

In the end I installed entourage 2008 (which I got with my exchange account fortunatley) and surprisingly enough, works a treat .

I always had the feeling that Mail was based on Thunderbird. The only thing I miss is asking for delivery/read confirmation.
