Question Bike Insurance Question, Your Opinion Please?

Hello. I will be picking up my new Ducati on the 29th of this month and have been looking around for insurance deals.

Looked on Tesco and done the quote with them. They have come back with some incredible quotes, the lowest being £155 and the highest being £181 fully Comp!

Now, your advice please. The first quote is by someone called 'AQuote' then there are the others, Telebikes, Elite Underwriters, Quoteline Direct, Direct Choice Insurance, Kwik-Fit Insurance, Express Insurance, Devitt and Bike Net Insurance.

Now, to be honest I have only heard of Devitt, none of the others. If I buy from the first one on the list could I trust them to pay up if something goes wrong, what should I look out for in the small print..?

Anyone else bought or covered from someone like these?

    Many Thanks.

    i'm with motorcycle direct.

i limit my mileage, no pillion cover, no europe cover, no legal cover. £68 fully comp for my 2003 z1000

my m8 who works for a large insurance company told me that the legal cover is a con, the insurance company simply employ a no win no fee solicitor when needed - you do the same if you need to claim but it doesnt cost anything and the solicitor is working for you not the insurance company.

Thanks for the replies guys, much appreciated. I was hoping the replies were just like yours with no one saying 'llok out for this hidden clause and that hidden clause' and so on. Looks like these companies are ok to use in the long run.

    Tiggerbiker, what is pillion cover?

Kracken, have a look here. I have just read this, have a look at the last comment on the last page.

    Thanks.

i'm not insured to take passengers on my bike (i have a single seat unit and no pillion pegs - so it would be impossible to take passengers)

it lowers the insurers liabillity in an accident, i.e. they only have to pay out for my injury's/losses and not my passengers, therefore i get a cheaper insurance quote

Ah, right. So if I don't get it and do take someone on the back and something happens would this invalidate my insurance or would it mean they simply can't claim against the other driver/rider/causer of accident?

A work colleague just got new insurance yesterday from The Post Office with £25 cashback.

Have you tried this link: http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/ins...oter-insurance

Just to update you guys who helped me and I appreciate that, I called the number on the Tesco Insurance website. Got through to the bloke, gave him my ref number and we had a chat.

The original quote was alright, £151 fully comp and we discussed quite a few things about it and changed a few things too.

We ended up with Norwich Union at £171 with a much better cover, i.e things that were not in the original quote.

I don't mind paying the extra few quid as I had budgeted £200 in the first place so no big deal and I think I have a good package with them.

Going to pick the bike up in the morning. It is 174 miles away and I am a bit nervous about riding it that far home on my first ride on it but at the same time quite excited too!

Should be home in around two hours I reckon, down the M11, round the M25 to the M23 straight down to Brighton.

    Thanks for the help chaps.
