Thought it might be interesting to see the history of peoples rides have been.
Let me kick off.
[Dads Audi 80] - not mine, but my first wheels I had access to, managed to smash it up good by trying to overtake on the outside of a roundabout.
Astra 1.6i 1990 - my first pride and joy, was pretty nippy when I was 17, schooled a lot of the wimps in their Nova SR's. Saw its eventual demise when I decided I was to bust to scrape down the windscreen, went round a corner, sun hit the frost, could not see anything. Did I stop? Did I hell, well, untill I drove into a parked car. Then the bonnet got damaged, and did not clip down, and flipped up when I was driving round the M25 - pretty scary. Think it was sold for scrap.
Astra GTE 2.0i 1991 - I doubt I will ever love a car more in my life. Quick as fuck when you were 18, cost £2500 to insure. Installed my first real stereo system, Inifinity setup, 15" sub - then proceeded to get caught on the M25 doing 117mph, got banned for 2 months, then proceeded to crash into a roundabout and got towed away by the police before the AA could save me. Then the stereo system got robbed in the compound, and the car was declared a write off - and I got paid £2100 - bugger.
Fiesta 1.0l 1982 (Orange) - this was given to me by my uncle as a sympathy vote as I was without car. I refused to drive it for 2 weeks, realised I lived in the sticks, and a 2 hour walk could be achieved in 10 mins in this monstrosity, so swallowed my pride and drove it. I must say it was great fun, especially when the breaks went after a couple of weeks. Ended up driving it for 6 months with no breaks, using only the hand break and 4 gears to slow me down.
Clio 16v 1992 - this was before all clios had 16v and this was a little GoKart. Loads of fun, but its biggest downfall was the fact it was french. Did not crash this one, but it eventually got consigned to the drive as I upgraded.
Calibra 2.5 v6 1994 - A lovely car, heated seats, leather interior and pretty rapid. Served me well until..
BMW M3 E36 1995 - my present car, I love it, but it just sits on the road gathering dust and having chavs kick off the windmirrors. Should really sell it as I do about 2k per year, but I just can't let go.
The future...
I had my heart set on the new Skyline, but the more I think about it, the more I realise I do not really need to spend £50k on a car that will never get driven, and likely get stolen. I still get the urge to get an newer M3/M5, but alas, it would be a waste of money also.
