No as the key is paired with the motherboard so a drive and a motherboard need to have the same key and as you cant get the key out of the liteon you snookered for now.

Where was this mate?? "Restocking fees" are illegal!

If you want the consumer to return the goods and to pay for that return, you must make it clear in the contract and as part of the required written information – see paragraph 3.10. If the consumer then fails to return the goods, or sends them at your expense, you can charge them the direct cost to you of the return, even if you have already refunded the consumer’s money. You are not allowed to make any further charges, such as a restocking charge or an administration charge.

Doesn't matter if its printed on the reciept, its still illegal, and your consumer rights overturn ANY stupid company poilcies they may have which conflict with your rights. I know its a bit late now, but just so you know for future reference.

    1. Doesn't matter, thats the law, and if they dont like it they can go fuck themselves when trading standards come knocking at their door.

    2. Im pretty sure it applies for all goods, everywhere. However im not 100% sure about that. Thats something that LJ might know.

    I think you mean this...

Q2. Do I only have rights for 30 (or some other figure) days after purchase?

No. Depending on circumstances, you might be too late to have all your money back after this time, but the trader will still be liable for any breaches of contract, such as the goods being faulty. In fact, the trader could be liable to compensate you for up to six years.

Q3. Are all goods supposed to last six (or five) years?

No, that is the limit for bringing a court case in England and Wales (five years from the time of discovery in Scotland's case). An item only needs to last as long as it is reasonable to expect it to, taking into account all the factors. An oil filter would usually not last longer than a year but that would not mean it was unsatisfactory.

Just tell them that's how it was when you bought it.

Some company sent me a wrong item a while back and took 10% restocking fee off me when I returned it! I then posted my experience on here, phoned the company to ask them to look at what I had done and they soon refunded me providing I removed the post lmfao

ok further to me asking can my old samsung drive be put in a new 360 if i have the drivekey

few people on here said no, but before i asked i knew i had seen it somehwere that you COULD do it

there is even a thread on here from a guy who says he has his key but he dont know how to sort it to change the drive and put the new key into it.

then i see this on ebay

I can also recover the DVD key from burnt out drives enabling a new DVD to be matched up to your existing motherboard and once again giving you a working XBOX.
    and this

PLEASE NOTE THIS DVD drive must have a drive key inserted to match it up to your motherboard (IF UNSURE HOW TO REPLACE PLEASE LET US DO THE WORK FOR YOU!)

so wot gives guys, im i just totally missing something here or wot???

You can swap DVD drives and spoof them, but NOT with a Lite-On, because to do that you need the drive key and there is currently no way to extract the drive key from Lite-On drives.
