Help How to completely remove A Programme

I have a slight problem in I have a programme called CovertxtoDvd which is a really good prog, My problem is that when I add files to convert I get a message saying

There is not enough free space left in folder C:\documents and settings\etc.etc
make sure drive has at least 4.2gb free

So have gone into C Drive and deleted folder CovertxtoDvd ,Probably should have gone into folder and deleted whats in there in Retrospect.

But still get the same message even tho the folder is empty

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling new one and a system restore but everytime I add a film to convert just keep getting the message

There is not enough free space left in folder C:\documents and settings\etc.etc
make sure drive has at least 4.2gb free

My train of thought is That if i can totally remove all traces of programme from p.c then hopefully canreinstall new one that works

Its really pissed me off that I cannot use as its a good prog that i use all the time,Any help or advice would be much appreciated

May just be the path is too deep mate? If you're sure you've got the physical space. load up convertx and go into settings-general, and change the working folder to something like C:\convertx

-Edit: what is your OS formatted to? ntfs/fat32 etc. may be the problem but can't recall stats.

    .
Have gone into settings and created new working folder and is still giving me same message.

Gutted thought that would have solved it.

    Well I,m fooked

    Local Disk [c]

    Free space 2.03GB
    Total size 232GB

I gather from that I need an external hard drive , I,m baffled as my p.c has only the bear essentials I need, and I always delete big files when ive finished with them.

How would one go about freeing up some decent space?

removing proggys that are not used maybe ?

..forget about removing programs.. I'm willing to bet you have alot of space used by previous video conversions.

..but ccleaner removes things like temporary files etc.. seriously doubt this equates to the amount of space you seem to be missing though.. if you pc only has the 'bare essentials' then your looking to find probably about 100Gb+ I'd be truly amazed if anyone has that much in their regular temporary files... even with vista!

when you find out where your space is (my guess is convertx's working files or something similar) you may need to set explorer to show hidden/system files & folders...

google "show hidden and system files in windows XXXX" (replace XXX with win version)

..also, for easy way of diasbling system restore.. google "disable system restore win XXX"

(I don't think system restore will equate to anywhere near what your missing either though.. if you truly have 'bare essentials' there's a shed load of space missing.. the answer should be obvious once you have a graphical representation of your drive)

windirstat is a good program for this it will show you how big each folder is and even allow you to delete files from within the program
