    Default Watchmen Trailer Online

"Watchmen" is set in an alternate 1985 America in which costumed superheroes are part of the fabric of everyday society, and the "Doomsday Clock" - which charts the USA's tension with the Soviet Union - is permanently set at five minutes to midnight. When one of his former colleagues is murdered, the washed up but no less determined masked vigilante Rorschach sets out to uncover a plot to kill and discredit all past and present superheroes. As he reconnects with his former crime-fighting legion - a ragtag group of retired superheroes, only one of whom has true powers - Rorschach glimpses a wide-ranging and disturbing conspiracy with links to their shared past and catastrophic consequences for the future. Their mission is to watch over humanity... but who is watching the Watchmen?"

I fucking love the book and have been waiting for this for a very long time though the fact Moore has no credit and has renounced it doesn't fill me with a vast amount of confidence. We will see though as the trailer looks awesome.

Echo that post totally, really enjoyed the book, trailer looks good but Moore backing away from it worries me a bit. I've steered clear of V for Vengeance, From Hell on the big screen so far and I know it's a wanky thing to say but I didn't think League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen was much to do with the book.

I watched the trailer & read some of the site before reading the whole thread here & I noticed in the 'about' part no mention was made of Moore, only Dave Gibbons. I thought this was a travesty but now you've said that about Moore I understand. From what I read about Alan Moore he's not an easy going man so it's a shame he renounced it but the trailer looks fantastic. Some of the scenes came straight off the pages, like the transformation of Dr. Manhattan, the owl hovering above the crowd, the comedians funeral.

I watched the trailer thinking bollocks I've got to wait till next June to see it, only when I saw the official site I saw the countdown & realised it's the 6th of March - d'oh

I know Alan Moore has had "issues" with other film versions of his graphic novels, but the trailer and stills look pretty faithful to the original to me.

    Looking forward to this one.

Well any film that is going to convert a top 100 seller book to film (infact its the only GN to ever make the top 100 ratings in the States) is going to be a big job but interestingly enough in all the 'diaries' they always refer to the book so here's hoping!

I bought & read it after I read a post or reply from Bert asking where he could buy a replacement book because he'd worn his out, I figured it must be good. It's epic & great how he made up new superhero characters & their history for the purposes of the story. I will read it again before the film comes out, for sure.

I read V for Vendetta before seeing the film & they chopped a fair few bits out in the transition to screenplay. Natalie Portman did the film no favours either, that accent almost stopped me getting wood over her

Based on that I'd say it would be good to read the book first. There's a short story that runs parallel through the main story & I really don't think this will make it into the film. It wouldn't benefit the film anyway.

The book is on amazon for about a tenner. Incidentally I just ordered some batman books from whsmiths where they're on offer: http://www.whsmith.co.uk/CatalogAndS...=batmangraphic I haven't read any yet & I fancied trying some.

I remember that post. I am currently reading it for the umpteenth time and it is a fcuking masterpiece. Looking to get the The Lost Girls Collected by Moore now as it looks the nuts but is perverse as fcuk. Hmmm wonder why I haven't already got it...

Arkham Asylum is great as is Killing Joke.

Great, those are two of the ones I ordered. The other two were the dark knight returns & year one Ra's al Ghul (copied the name there).

I thought the short clip in the trailer showing the owl over the crowd was spot on to the book. The transformation of Dr Manhattan was exactly how I remembered the illustration, arms splayed out etc. really looking forward to this one.

Lost Girls, well I once saw a french illustrated porn mag so there's a market for it

p.s. funny how we can remember posts but out of (what is it now) 15000 or so it must have been one of the sober moments

Cheers for this post, just bought a new copy of the GN, as mines been kicking about for as long as they've been trying to get this film made. I'm sure in one version Arnie was slated to play Ozymandias but he wouldn't spend the majority of the movie painted blue and butt nekkid thank fuck. What a trailer though!!! As with many other GN to Movie projects I don't expect it to be 100% replica of the GN it's a mvie ffs but I do expect them to be true to the spirit of the original in the same way as Batman begins and (it looks like - as I won't get to see it till Sunday )THe Dark Knight.
