Default 2nd BT Vision box question

    Hi all,

OK, I am getting BT vision. They are giving me a deal better than what I am getting with $Ky at the moment and are throwing Setanta in for free.

Anyhow, once the box arrives with the 'Value' option, if I grab a 2nd box off Ebay, can I then use that and get the same channels on the 2nd box or do you need a sub per box? Would also be good to know if the Setanta Card works in both boxes?

I missed out on a box yesterday on Ebay, went for £1.20! (plus £14 del)

    Cheers,

    Goldberg

I can only comment for Tiscali IPTV and that can't do multi room because of the bandwidth. I'd imagine its the same for BT Vision? I've gone back with Sky because I've got so used to their interface that it was a right pain getting used to something else.

Just done a Google and it appears that once you plug a 2nd box in your ability to record on the first is gone! and it will delete all of your recordings on the first box.......

I will still grab one for once the work in another thread has been done I imagine they will go up in value!

    Goldberg,

The Vision box will be registered to your Hub, so it's more likely that the 2nd box will offer only the freeview options and record functions (not On Demand stuff). I also imagine the Setanta card will work happily in the 2nd box.

Guess it's trial and error though if you feel you can fork out the expense of the 2nd box.

For the sake of £15 delivered which could be 'hacked' in the future to act as a server (not for free channels etc...) then I am willing to splash the cash lol

Will be a few weeks before I get it, my broadband order gets delivered next week with one of those new Hubs, then they have to wait 8 days before sending the box out as they need to verify the stable line speed.
