It was announced on Rock Radio (106.1 FM) which is a Manchester Radio station that has a large biker following and I think someone connected with the family rung in with the news early this morning.

"UPDATE 10.25am: Parkalgar Honda have announced that Craig Jones has died in hospital with his family at his side.
MONDAY 8am: PETERBOROUGH motorbike race ace Craig Jones is fighting for his life in hospital today after a horror crash at Brands Hatch.
Parkalgar Honda rider Jones was taken to the Royal London hospital after a crash during the ninth round of the World Supersport Championship yesterday.
The 23-year-old was battling for the race lead when the accident happened at Clark Curve.
The race was stopped and red-flagged with the result going back to the previous lap as medical staff attended him on the track.
Simon Buckmaster, Parkalgar Honda Team Manager: "Craig was treated trackside by the medical staff before being transferred by air-ambulance to the Royal London Hospital.
"He has a serious head injury and the doctors have placed him in a pharmacological coma to stabilise his condition. We will not know any more for at least 24 or 48-hours – all our thoughts are with him and his family.
"I would like to thank the medical staff for their attention and also the well-wishers for their thoughts. We shall update the news on Craig's condition as and when we can."

If any mods think its a bit distastefull posting a fatal crash please delete it.
EDIT by Nibb - I watched it and its very very sad.....I think its best to let people search it out for themselves if they want to see it.

Yeah fair enough Nibb didn't know wether to post it or not. Is very very sad, such a young talent gone...
Just had a look on youtube as well was pretty grim. Looked very strange though I was expecting a massive accident but it looked pretty simple. He must have been very unlucky. RIP
R.I.P Jonesy very sad day it is
Fuckin absolutely gutted I have raced with jonesy myself in the past when he was a clubster, been so busy posting in the bike forums i visit i fforgot there might e a tribute here Cant bring myself to believe it, got to say you have also got to really feel for Andrew Pitt as he has got to live with the fact that his bike hitting craigs head is probably what caused his death. Nothing he could have done to avoid it really. A lot of wankers on other forums are saying that the marshalls were too slow to react and get the red flag out and I dont agree, I timed it and I think the coverage and the speed of the crash i.e. how long it took craig to come to a halt made it look like it was a long time but it wasnt, the red flag was out after 5 seconds, the marshalls were running onto the track within 24 seconds and by 58 seconds the ambulance was there so I dont know what more they could have done. A lot of these marshalls are voluntary some get only expenses and some lunch!! I think they did a great job and people should get off there backs.
RIP Jonesy you'll be sorely missed by me and millions of others.
Was a tragic accident and i dont think the marshalls could of done anything more for him... I've been involved in bike sports for years as a competitor and a spectator and i think the marshalls do a wonderfull job and as lighty has said most of it is voluntary... I've even done travelling marshalling myself.
