360 cd drive buggered ?

hi ive had my xbox since xmas hardly ever play on it got given 25games so thought id get one been playin on it once a week just put a game in and the drive keeps ejectin or makein a loud noise as if its readin it any one any ideas ive upped a vid i rec its f00ked it aint been droped just sat on the shelf under the tv all the time cheers chris

My second 360 has just done similar, phone microsoft, tell em you have the ring of death, they will fix it for free without even checking. Got mine back in 11 days with 1 month xbox live free, and a letter telling me they have replaced motherboard & drive.

Hi mate, make sure you tell them it's damaged 5 of your discs and you aint happy play em the file and send it to them, via email though not post

figured it out had a look on the net took it apart and the small magnet connection to the cd drive came unstuck took me about 15min to open it drilled 10 holes in plastic case to get to the clips to open it up with a small screw driver took the lid off the cd drive and the magnet was stuck to the top of the case when it should of been glued to the spinny bit of the drive

you just need to rip the 2 parts of the case apart and it unclips.

5mm i think saw a vid on youtube on how 2 open it up n he had drilled in to the plastic to get to the clips easier

no drilling needed, just a bit of force and pull the case to bits in secs, makes a great noise to when you do it lol

hitachi drive seen sites sayin it aint that clever wots a good drive to buy off ebay to put in

you cant change drives about mate i dont think, they are paired to the mother board as i understand it.

u can take the pcb out of the drive and put in another hitachi

yeah this is what i was talkin about a while back but i had a liteon and didnt know u couldnt do it with them.

i have a samsung already flashed out my old 3 red light 360 i wanna buy a 360 off ebay with a drive error and put my flashed sammy in the new 360, so would be curious to know how easy this really is

TIP 1: To open the white case on 360's you only need 2 tools

1st tool, a small thin precision screwdriver. you insert the screwdriver into the case where the grey clips are on each side carefully slotting each clip.

second tool - a radio screwdriver (small straight edge) from wilkos (15p or thereabouts). just slot this said screwdriver into the little holes at the back of the 360 (middle of where the 2 cases meet). and hey presto - opened in seconds. no drills no blowtorch nothing.

on a personal a tip from Cam: use a hammer

a tip from Wideon: put a line between each screw (lol)

a tip from t2k1: Just ask my 3000 kurd bother workforce to do the labour at 15p per hour. i good man.

PS: i bet it was an hitatchi 78fk? they are terrible for doing this with the magnet, ive fixed loads.
