Well this film has been hyped up alot over the last few weeks and TBH I dont think it lived up to expectations... dont get me wrong it is good and is funny but you have to be a fan of war films to really find the humour and cliche...

Downey is very very funny playing a black man (which I believe is still causing controversy in the US) and Black also good but the man who steals the show is movie mogul Tom Cruise... if they gave a cameo oscar, he would get it for this.

Watch but dont make a special effort...

100% agee with Shotgunjim's review.

Tom Cruise is awesome in his cameo role.

The only downside is that it has been overhyped so much that it doesnt live up to it.

I didnt hear any of the hype about this movie - heard a review yesterday and thought lets give it a go - and i wasnt disapointed. Found it to start off really poor - the gags were really poor with a lot of what i call toilet humour. But after the drop in the jungle, Ben stiller did what ben stiller does best (make people laugh.) Downey Juniour was brilliant and i didnt even realise it was cruise until the last scene - excellent! Really funny film, but it isnt a must see in the cinema - wait for the dvd.

I agree with some of the sentiments here. I went with some mates to the preview, mainly due to the buzz surrounding it, the good early reviews, and excellent trailer! We all found it quite a let down really. Admittedly quite pissed by time we got to the cinema, but the gags dried up a bit for me. Downey Jr and Cruise were fantastic tho.

saw this last night, was a bit slow to start but got better once they hit the jungle. Did not know it was tom cruise but i had a hunch so jumped on imdb half way through as it was buggin me lol
The jack black scene strapped to the tree was hilarious, "swallow the gravy" worth a watch if your not after something heavy that requires 1 1/2 hours of attention

Didn't mind it. Laughed more than a few times. A great deal of the cast may as well have not been there. Jack Black was as shit as his character was peripheral and dispensable. Stiller was no great shakes either but I suppose he was busy directing. Downey Jnr and Tom Cruise properly stole the show.
