    Default BST Section

    All,

Due to a recent member been ripped off (possibly) by another 'trusted' member I have a suggestion that could assist in preventing this again.

On another forum I used to goto, they have a rule in the BST section that you have to include a photo of the item with a note in the photo showing your username for the forum. You could take it one step further and also include the front page of a national newspaper to confirm the date listed too.

To go one step further it may be worth providing contact details (Address, Tel Number etc..) between both parties and even to the forum admin staff. I don't know if people would be happy with that though....

    Just a suggestion.

    Thanks,

    Goldberg

I think the first suggestion is a fair one, including a photo isn't going to be too painful. I couldn't be arsed buying the daily sport though and take pics of it next to whatever i'm selling whilst doing a handstand mouthing the words digital forums.

The username in the photo sounds a good idea as does the contact details. The section does say in the rules you need to get contact details:
Ask for references if you're not sure about the buyer/seller, and make sure you get some kind of contact address or telephone number.
I just bought a sky HD box off someone and didn't really bat an eyelid about sending them £120. I'll probably think twice about doing so in future. Sad that we can't trust each other on here anymore.

Granted, but maybe the photo inclusion (OK minus the newspaper) could be considered?

Contact address should be up to the buyer and seller.

I think the rules are pretty simple, use at your own risk !!!

No discussion of VIP sections in the main forum, especially the section that you just mentioned

Sorry chief my bad, just trying to entice fear345 to join us I'm sure he'll be helpful in that section.

On topic that maybe worthwhile having the pictures however I have bought from here in the past and would have no qualms about doing so again because of one nobhead, if something did go wrong as we have seen the whole forum is very supportive

I would say that in the several years I have been moderating the BST (and probably before that also) I can only recall one or maybe two cases where someone has felt like they have been ripped off.
The present case is being sorted out, and when you compare that with all of the transactions that have been successfully completed, coupled with the fact only VIP's can sell - I would say this is one of the most reliable trading forum on any website I know.

Well said gunner. It only takes one retarded fat cunt with a fishing rod to take the piss and every one starts jumping around but in reality it runs slicker than a whores fanjita.

TBH putting the username in photo doesnt mean they had or still have the item but its a nice idea and photo of the item should be mandatory if not already.

Yet again a minority spoiling it for the vast numbers of people on DF

Can anyone put this into context ie how many items have been sold on DF like Gunner mentioned

A photo would always be nice, however from a Mod's point of view it is hard enough getting some people to put a guide price and adhere to the rules, let alone getting them to actually use a camera, and then being able to transfer said photo to their computer!!!

Maybe it would make it easier to just delete all posts that dont adhere to the rules. This maybe easier in the long run and the members will soon get the idea, lol.

Well I wouldnt bother informing them of anything, and just leave the message in the deletion notice. Job done, lol.

There is an option on VB to either approve posts or disapprove them so to speak, if approved the post then appears. I know BST has this however there is the option to also send auto notification that the post has been approved or not as the case may be. If it is not approved within the auto notification you can give a one/two or more worded reason....

Might be worth a look if admin are thinking along these lines.....

I must admit though been here for 4+ years and maybe one or two scammers have tried it on here but i think they end up 'sorted' lol.......
