    Info Best Newsgroups

I'm currently with Newshosting and pay $14.95 per month, but I'm not impressed with there 80 day retention, and also more recently is taking forever to connect.

I've looked at Giganews which has platinum package for $24.99.

My question is, is Giganews better than Newshosting for the xtra $10, and are there any other newsgroups worth considering??

    TIA

I use giganews and have always been happy with them - max out my 8meg line, 20 connections, 240 day retention and ssl downloads for about 15 notes a month. Well worth the money I reckon

Astraweb is good too, very cheap (look in Biggys), max connection etc. Also you can pay in pound sterling IIRC if your card charges you £1.50 like mine for spending other currency like with newshosting.

    Newsdemon is ok as well.

I wouldn't say giganews is worth the extra because newshosting actually has something like 130 days retention, as for the connections are you using their US or EU servers?

I just want to run the UseNeXT pricings by you guys because I'm half way through my 2 week trial and still not sure if its a good deal.

Basically on all of their packages (15, 30 and 75GB/mo) you get unlimited downloads restricted to 1000kbps, but if you want a speed boost you click the high speed button and it then starts to eat into your allowance. So for only €9.95 you get 15GB of high speed volume and the rest is speed restricted. Obviously this kind of system requires you to use their own bespoke newsgroup client, which to me seems pleasant enough.

What I want to know is whether this represents a good deal? Their prices are displayed here. I'm quite used to queueing up downloads before I sleep/go to work so I don't think the 1000kbps limit is too bad given that its unlimited.

You might just as well go for a giganews package and done with.

It may be worthy noting that those using bt as their isp can use news.btinternet.com for free (well you could when I was on bt).

My subs at Xennews has just expired, if you got the cash I'd recommend them purely for the 200 day retention and unlimited d/ls. I paid €30 for 3 months.

Is there any better deals out there ?, 80 days retention would be fine but they have to accept Visa or Paypal.

    Newshosting is pretty good value:

currently upgrading to 250 days retention, their 12 month deal is $190 and they take visa.
