What to replace Wiinja v2 with?

I've got a Wiinja v2 and am wanting rid of the dreaded 001.

I understand that it can be replaced with something similar and the wires will only need to be soldered off the chip and onto a new one.

But what's the best thing to replace it with at the moment? Any tips on where to obtain one cheap appreciated as well.

YOASM, its open source and its free! If you have a programmer or can get hold of one then all you need is a PIC 12F683 or PIC 12F629 (the 12F683 is the recommended one due to larger memory for future updates).

A blank PIC costs £1.30!

Bugger no programmer. If I did have it would be a masterplan though! Will do some asking around but I doubt any of my mates will have one.

You could always replace it with a wiikey
