    Apple macbook battery life?

ok im about to hand work back my macbook pro, and theyre replacing them with some shitty cheap pc thing so im thinking of buying a macbook as i dont need a mbp (and i dont wanna pay for a mbp lol) and i was wondering what sort of battery life i could look forward to from them i know the replacement batterys are about £99 so its not a huge expense to replace one or carry an extra

I usually get 4-5hours of usage with mine if im just browsing and e-mailing via wifi. Have bluetooth turned off which helps.

For more heavy usage youll tend to get 3-4hours off a full charge.

TBH i only now use the battery once a month to calibrate it, aside from that its normally plugged into the mains

I have a MacBook and i am going to get a 24" iMac because the screen is to small if you are doing a lot. It is excellent for carrying round and being good at what it is good at, but i like to have shit loads open and beable to see where i am dragging and dropping etc.....

That said it works really well connected up to my 20" monitor.

I would say that if you do not been it to be portable go for the iMac....

cheers m8, im really quite unsure which it get now, i liked the mbp cos it had a decent size and res screen and was powerfull enough to run a few different things at once, which is why im leaning towards the imac but it was (although not tiny) portable so i could take it with me when i go somewhere which is why im thinking about getting the macbook cheers for the input m8

    I have just ordered mine...!!!

I got it through the education store so i saved about £300 as it is all cheaper through that. Apple care is only £40 for example. If you can get someone to order you one at the moment they are giveing a £95 rebate if you buy an iPod and £60 if you buy a printer....

    Happy days.....

You can only access the website from an educational web site....!

Just walk into a Uni near you and tap into the wireless network...!!!
(i did not say that by the way....)

    Yes that is all...!!

You can also phone them up and try to blag it...!
    0800 039 1010

Not sure if they will check anything they certainly did not access for any ID over the net, so give them a call and say that you just prefer to talk to someone about it...!

You can even get your iPod engraved from free as well....

how are you seeing the price because the university one is a bigger discount than the school one I think. Postage is free on any order over £72 as well.

I ordered the top spec iMac with wireless mouse and keyboard with apple care, apple care alone will save you £80. The keyboard and mouse are a few quid cheaper as well. If you can wait till Monday I can work it out for you when I am on campus. Post up the spec you want and I will get the quote for you.

I would offer to get it for you but you can only order 1 per year on your apple id. Can maybe work a way around it.

i found their prices on a link from the main page
    http://www.apple.com/uk/backtoschool...20080916-LCYEX

ive asked work what they plan to do with my mbp and so far they dont know so ive asked if i can buy that off them so before i buy anything im going to wait and see what they say cos i bought my old laptop from them (an old dell) when they gave me the mbp and it only cost £50 so fingers crossed cos this mbp is just 12 months old lol

thanks for the offer of getting it for me but i couldnt ask you to do that m8 but it is an outstanding offer

the biggest saving is in the warrenty adding the extended warrenty for 50 pounds is a good deal, considering its like 200 normally or something stupid, casio if anyone of your relatives kids or anyone you know that goes to university then you can just take them with you and buy it in the store and take it away the same day with the discount thats what i did for a relative.
good luck macs have amazing battery life compared to windows based laptops.

true although my mbp only ever got about 3 hours at the most, in the end i bought a new battery for it and carried 2 if i thought id need it

ive had a walk around the local college tonight with the dog and my iphone and found 7 unsecured wireless access points so im going to buy through there i think although it looks like im waiting till the 14th now

bloody apple after my money again lol
