The best way to find out is to do a fresh digital setup, if you are asked Aerial or Cable then there is a cable tuner present.

No experience of Samsung TV Cable tuners, I was unaware they started fitting them. You need to post accurate information like model numbers if you want help though.

How can anyone tell you if you don't give them a model number? You may just need a cam but like I said with Sammy being new to the TV cable tuner market it might be too early to tell.

The problem is that without someone knowing for sure that a particular cam or cam/card combination will work in your TV it's going to be an expensive experiment. I use (in a Sony TV) a diablo cam, no card as I'm not bothered about auto updating, it's a veery versatile cam and easy to program but will cost you £80 = £90 just for the cam, the programmer will be extra with deals to be had for buying a diablo/cas3 combo.

Dreambox500c will sort you, the only thing you'll miss is the HD and that's just BBC!
It'll auto update with the right files on and it's seriously well supported. By the time there is more HD available you'll have a better idea of what to use.

i have the sony tv mentioned but never thought to do this. Can this be considered safe normal cable boxes have their return lines cut of to stop talk back. Do virgin know you are using it? Do you get EPG

The return path is built into the cable boxes which are customised for the individual company concerned. The cable receiver in the Sony TV is just that, a receiver. EPG on my TV is just 24 hours unfortunately but I have digiguide o my PC and a variety of options on my Macbook and iPhone so no problem there.

Fkin sweet! You're telling us the tv will decode the hdtv channels too?

Just out of interest what BK and IRD did you use to get the card (MOSC) to AU? Does the cam have them on it or are they on the tv somewhere?

Sorry been a bit quiet on the cable front so I forget things! That will no doubt mean something with kick off from VM soon!

So you input the keys manually?

That's a bit sucky... Not too bad ATM but when VM start playing wheel of fortune with the keys it'll be a pain in the ass.

It's no real hardship, I just couldn't be arsed fecking around to get it updating. I'm not currently using it as I actually have a Kosher V+ box subbed!! Iwent for it when VM started fecking around moving stuff around!!

Yes you get HD, and i think the zeta cam is better than diablo cause im using a card, if keyroll changes then cant be assured diablo cam will get the update. If you use zeta any card works. DJ if you want one let me know as you only live round the corner.
