I've never seen an episode of Sienfeld but picked up Curb Your Enthusiasm very easilly. Larry David talks about Sienfeld and some of the characters make an appearance. Its very easy to follow.

No, you can watch Curb on it's own and it really is the greatest scripted cringeworthy comedy ever written!

Seinfeld is shite in my opinion, but Curb Your Enthusiam is the best thing since Larry Sanders. I can only imagine that Jerry Seinfeld is the blame for that as Larry David is fucking god.

As long as you know that Larry David wrote Seinfield, thats all you need - Curb is a fooking ace show. Seinfield is absolute pap (but Ive only ever managed to watch 1 or 2 episodes).

Never watched any Curb, flicked over when its been on and looked at if for a couple of minutes on a few occasions and there has never been anything about it that has made me want to give it much of a chance.

I thought Seinfeld was good, Jerry's character is a bit annoying and boring, but George is brilliant, first class ant-hero, and Kramer is good value for his eccentricness.

I've tried Seinfeld a few ttimes but just didn't get it.

Bought, watched (twice) and loved all Curb apart from season 6 which I think became a little too theatrical.

In answer to the OP - nope, not necessary.

I've added a spoiler mate as I for one haven't seen season 6 so that could give a bit too much away.

So do you think it's worth perservering with season 5 or just jump straight to season 6?

    Love Curb...can't stand Seinfeld.

    Go figure :/

Season 5 was of a much lower quality than previous episodes, and I thought that the show had lost it. However, season 6 was a massive return to form. Had me from the first episode, 'So....your name is Black.'

I think Larry said he based George on himself. I've struggled to get into Seinfeld because while it is more intelligent than the average American comedy, unfortunately that is not hard to achieve when you look at the popular drivel such as Everybody Loves Raymond. Seinfeld has some great episodes like the masturbation one but I cba to watch it all.
