Help Problem booting to recovery partition

    Hi,

Im trying to factory reset an aspire laptop, when i press f10 i get into the recovery partition but cant get any further. Once the partition appears i see a command prompt "/NOEXECUTE=OPTOUT" if i hit enter it just goes to system repair which fails to fix the problem.

Is there something i need to type at the command prompt? or any other way to recover the OS?

OS is vista home basic (oem)

    Thanx
    Cheers

sounds like a problem with the Master boot record of the hard drive. or the hard drive its self is knackered.
Run some testing tools on it (Hiren's BootCD 9.5) can find it on here me thinks

get hold of some ones vista disk and do a repair on the Boot problems see if that helps.

or download a OEM for aspire probably get it in normal places

Ive got a vista disk and tried the repair but it fails. I can just use the disk and install but im trying to get the recovery partition to install so all the drivers etc are installed as well.

Thanx for the offer (very nice of you), however i think ive solved the problem.

Spoke to acer support who advised both alt and f10 keys need to be tapped (i was holding alt while tapping f10)

Thanx for all the input peeps
