    Question Cat D damage repair

I have been looking at a 2007 Citroen C1 vibe for just under £4000 with only 1,600 miles on the clock. It is classed as cat d repair.

Can anyone advise what they may mean for me? I know it means minor damage etc... but will it void any Citroen warranty meaning i will need to have it MOTd for the next 2 years? will it affect insurance premium?

    Any advice would be great

    Thanks

    Rob

Cat d's aren't always minor damage, its down to the insurance engineer and company policies on how they classify write offs, some don't cat d any and cat c them instead, some cat d some pretty heavy damaged stuff.
A cat d will be worth more on salvage then if it was a cat c and some companies use this to their advantage.

If the vehicle has been repaired using factory standards and methods then the manufacturers warranty won't be affected. They do try to back out though if they find the vehicle has had previous work so it has to have been repaired properly using genuine parts.

Regardless of whether it's a write off or not the 3 year from new mot still applies.

If you don't mention its a write off to your insurance company they won't know, but if you write it off they will offer you less as a payout.
If you do mention it you will normally have to get an engineers report saying the cars ok before they will insure it and bump your premium up. You will still get paid out less should you write it off using this method.

Quality of repair is way above anything else though, ensure you get it checked over properly.
Drugs are only a problem to people who can't afford them.
