had a go at the moon tonight had to do a bit of sharpening in photoshop to finish it off

    1000mm ( 2x converter ) f8, 1/200, 400 iso

added a 100% crop to give you an idea of size

Looks pretty good to me. Mind you, the lens at 500mm helps with image size. My peanuts 300 struggles.

Another great moon shot. Good clarity and taken at the right time (ie. not a full moon )

i bought the converter from jessops in 1999 ( for the solar eclipse ) but it's the same one jessops sells today ( teleplus mc7 ) in reality their not that great i'd say there's quite a bit of loss through them and you can end up with a lot of grain
at the end of the day their a cheapish quick fix for high magnification but no substitute for glass
iv'e never tried one of the canon ones i imagine they would be a lot better

There was someone on here who was teaming up their camera with a telescope wasn't there? Those shots were great. Not seen any of those for a while. Soon as a saw the full moon the other night i thought it would make a great pic.

    Very nice shot Cosmic.

I remember that thread, I nearly bought a telescope after reading it but living in the smoke with all the light pollution I gave the idea up. I've been into Astronomy and Archeology since childhood but there's nowhere near me that is good for Astro observation!
