    Help increase line speed

I'm with talktalk and my modem shows that i'm only getting 1mb even on the master socket. I am only 460m away from the exchange and i just want to know what i can do about it and who i can complain to.

Too be honest mate I'd move to another supplier. Talk Talk are absolutely atrocious and you will get nowhere by complaining. Their customer services barely speak english.

My dad had them for a short spell and was at his wits end with them. Do yourself a big favour and move....seriously.

yep had to deal with them because broaband kept dropping when we first got it and they dont speak english insisted it was our fault and annoyingly kept repeating same things with me having to tell them i know for a fact that is not the problem. finnally got another place to call who spoke english and they said it was thier fault in the end.

They are very poor and probably will be moving from them soon just want to know if the line speed will change if i move or if its BT's line speed.

Problem is don't have much money so with phone and broadband and line rental the only other option is tiscali and not heard much good about them either.

just looked at sky and it looks like they may be another good option. Thanks

ADD: just had another look and broadband is only avaliable to tv customers and that would add too much to the monthly cost so doesn't look like sky is an option for me.

i was fixing a PC up for a friend and would only connect for about 2 min then drop and had really poor signal.

Ripped the face of the master socket and tried the test socket and works a treat seems like they have a problem with there maser socket might be a wee thing to try only takes 2 mins.

What about Be? Truely unlimited, fast speeds all quite cheap to top it all. If you need a referral to get free connection drop me a pm.

No can't get virgin. I will complain to talktalk and see what they can do and ask BT for a line gain. A expect that i will get each company passing me back to the other a few times before anything is done. Hopefully teling taktalk I will leave will kick them into action. thanks for the suggestions and other providers. I will get back when i hear what they can do.

Update: on phone for 20min to get a phone number to call on hold for 1hr and then they told us they had put us on a fixed 1mb line so they took us off and put is on the 8mb line. Good that its sorted but bad that it takes so long to get it sorted.
