    yeah, I agree. That's the thing with HD at the moment, until someone releases a reliable free service.. Then HD will always be a premium service, SKY know this and are mopping up with all the early adopters who are paying through the nose.

    I believe Freeview HD is in the pipeline.. but that won't work with all the embedded digi encoders in supposed HD ready TV's, it's also dependant on the analogue switch off to free bandwidth, as long as the spectrum can be retained and not used for Broadband as they are planning in the states.

    Link Freeview HD -> http://crave.cnet.co.uk/televisions/...9296378,00.htm

    That's what FreeSat is for.

    HD content OTA is not that feasible due to bandwidth restrictions. There are some allocated frequencies supposedly reserved for some sort of freeview HD, but Freesat will have more content when it's properly established.

    Regarding Sky Sports HD1 football. IMO it doesn't look that great. I think the degraded the SD quality to make people go for HD and go WOW! That would be highly illegal, but SKY are wankers!

    Best HD content involves downloads and and an X360, or bluray.

    At least now I won't have the kids whinging to me about the Simpsons and only being able to watch it at the in-laws house.

    thats why i like to always stay a lil bit behind for everything! my sister got the whole sky hd thing and new telly\dv\hd the lot! lots of money wasted! coz when i was in her's looking at it i thought it was pretty shit! im happy with what i got, and that didnt make me wanna change. her husband was saying to me a week later, after telling me how great his sky hd movies was the week before! that all he watches is bluray dvds now !! these are people that only know about all this via likes of currys and tv lol.

    tbh i think alot of this sky hd shit with people is just down to the old "keeping up with the smiths"
