Just went out to the kitchen to make a coffee and saw a police van - thought aye up whats going on here!

Look to the side and there was 10 coppers 'Raid equiped' with the big door baton thing standing at my front gate.

I dropped a bollock for a split second thinking shit, hide stuff

Needless to say they all walked off round the corner and seconds later .. "Bang Bang Booosh! POLICE POLICE POLICE"

I was at a pirate radio station once that got raided. Fortunately I wasn't playing that night, just "hanging out".

It took the police a good few minutes to get in, because in the tower block, you can generally notice a load of police coming your way! They were seen heading towards the area from quite a way away, from a 10th floor window... As soon as they turn up at the bottom of the flat, the "doorman" will block the lifts open with something, so they have to use the stairs.

This gives the DJ's time to swing record bags onto other balconies, hide equipment or leg it. Legging it usually not a good idea as you would only meet them coming up the stairs...

The door would usually be re-enforced with something, so it would take a good few whacks to open, by the time we're all sitting playing pontoon or some shit.

Another radio station that got raided (but i wasn't there) had the door totally blocked up with 3 feet plus of solid concrete! In the concrete were live wires, glass, chains and all sorts of shit! DJ's had to swing from other flats balconies to get in to play! Something the police weren't prepared to do! I have a video of the documentary or news report it was on somewhere.

The joys of scoring in tower blocks.

I lived on the 7th floor of a tower block on the Wirral for half my life, seen more than enough raids in that place, the police used to diguise themselves as they used to be spotted so often going into the place.

They used to enter the building one by one every couple of mins in plain clothes, other times they dressed up as painters and in the buckets they were carrying they had sledgehammer handles sticking out. We just laughed at them as they waited for the lift! The old postie trick was the best, we all knew our local postie as he used to give us our giro's so when some twat you didn't know knocked at the door saying he had a parcel you just knew what was going to happen next!! They also used to sit around in old clapped out cars with no tax on them and everything just to try and blend in.

Our estate was once the subject of a documentary on the telly as the drug problem was so bad. The drug squad were followed by a camera and we were all on telly once on BBC1! The copper in charge of the drug squad/serious crime squad actually wrote a book about it all to that was quite interesting to read many years later when all grown up.

I also remember the feller next door getting a visit from the Regional Crime Squad. They came over to the Wirral from Manchester and they didn't fuck about, they were seriously serious, never seen anything like them in my life.
