I put a new drive in the kids Wii and the games all boot up but all of the one's on the older discs appear to come up with the "disc error" shortly after starting them.
Any idea's if there is a quick type fix.
CHEERS
I have this problem with at least the 3 copies I have tried in my Wii. House of the dead freezes every time after the first level, mario kart freezes in random places during the game setup screens, super smash bros freezes randomly.
Are yours backups or genuine discs? If genuine then update your software on the update channel. If it's a backup set your drive read speed to another speed. At 3x mine won't read any discs, at 6x or whatever it is it gives the above problems.
Not bothered trying any retail games since as I don't play my Wii.
Do you mean you have put in a new laser/drive and have these problems?
Also this is the wrong section mate
Hello m8 - Firstly thanks for the reply - secondly could yourself or another mod please move it to the correct section (I was flustered).
They are backups, they worked on the other drive - now put a new drive in - 97% of the backups are on this type of disc and the majority throw up an error on the new drive, some other discs that I bought more recently (thus don't have as many to test) all appear to work.
I'd rather not have to reburn everything and didn't know if there was another "work-around".
Cheers.
done
Not sure then mate, why did you swap the drives? Sounds like the media could be causing the new laser problems, as with 360s some will play the cheapest crappy media whereas most won't. And some people have had problems with Aone whereas a lot of people (myself included) don't. Only option other than reburning might be tweaking the laser?
