Bethere or Newshosting speed performance issues

Is anyone suffering any speed problems on bethere or newshosting lately especially during peak times?

I normally can download at a constant 1600k\sec but its been really intermittent recently. Speeds drop off to zero, and then it will start up again and then stop and so on.

If its newshosting i'll just cancel and go with someone else.

No problems here with Be and Easynews? Might be a local issue or, like you say, Newshosting - but Newshosting was always good for me when I used them.

ive has newshosting issues recently but thought it was the ssl side that was playing up. 119 and no ssl seemed to work better.

Thats good to know zippey, as a test i downloaded the ubuntu iso off the web and left grabit running, the ubuntu iso downloaded constantly with no problems but newsgroup downloading was all over the place with the threads not moving at all.

Newshosting has been fantastic for the last few years, first major problem i've had with them.

yeah ive had the exact same problems.

i know it wasnt the settings as at other times the ssl & port 563 works fine.

hopefully its a short term issue

The only problem I have with Be is that I can't work out why my download speeds have gone through the roof.
I normally pull 16,000 kb/s or thereabouts, but in the last 3 days or so I have seen a drastic improvement (so I won't be calling them to find out what has changed)

Very interesting... On occasion you see the odd spike for a second that hits 30,000kb/s but I put that down to the news reader being incorrect. However last week my connection hit around 33,000kb/s for about 5 minutes, which I thought at the time was unusual.

Zippeyrude is spot on, I remember that I had to change the port's with Newshosting once in a while, I used to use port's 800/900 when there were problems and that tended to correct it.

I've flicked through all the ports when it was going funny and changed to the european servers. No change. There website was down last night but i'm pulling the plug on them as soon as i can get back on.

i raped NG last night (on F2S isp), a full & consistent 8 meg d/l which is an improvement on the 6ish i normally get.

ffs im maxing at 72KB/s as opposed to my 600KB/s on newshosting

speedtest shows a good broadband speed. anyone else suffering?

hmm odd, speedtest shows my net connection to be at 600KB/s.
ive changed servers, ports etc but no joy.
ive raised a ticket, see what this bunch say. im quite disappointed at their recent issues.

i had heard that O2 and therefore BE had some DNS issues my mates at work are on O2 and it was a known problem.

they were getting problems accessing some sites one day and not the next, sometimes slow and sometimes fine,
i'll get the ticket number tmrw at work
