I've actually won a couple of fights now, a bit upset about the people using Akuma, I havent unlocked him yet and it seems a bit mean

totally agree, it should match like for like,so if you dont have him unlocked then you shouldnt be playing people that do

He's been nerfed quite a lot since SSF2T. Moves he used to be invulnerable during are now not etc.

I wonder if its related to the achievement for beating him in arcade mode. Suggestion for the achievement seems to be to set the game to easy and single round fights, then beat every one up to and including sagat without continuing.

Apparently you can continue as much as you want once you get to him, which is likely to be necessary since hes even cheaper than bison!
