    Default Sub £100 Graphics Card

Looking to get a new graphics card as I'm about to ditch my 17" CRT monitor in favour of a 22" TFT and my current ATI Radeon X300 SE just won't cut it. I'd also like to be able to play a few games (and hopefully be able to get fallout 3 running, at least on low settings).

Now the rest of my set up is admittedly a bit shit.

    AMD Sempron 3000+
1 GB DDR 400 ram (will shortly be upgrading to 3GB)

I was thinking this one - Inno3D 9600GT OC 512MB DDR3 Overclocked Edition Dual DVI TV Out PCI-E

    Any good?

(I realise that my GPU will most likely outperform the rest of my PC but I plan on upgrading the rest of the components eventually)

That is a pretty good card, tbh if u go to dabs and ebuyer and sort by price then you will prolly find the best card for under a ton.

Unless you fancy taking potluck over at fleabay

My money would go on a Radeon 4830, or if you can stretch your budget a little, a Radeon 4850. Both of these cards will outperform the 9600GT by some margin in most games - http://www.ebuyer.com/search?store=2&cat=48&subcat=2586

I've been happy with nvidia for ages (never bought a top end card myself though). However, from what I've been reading, nvidia were in the lead performance wise for ages, but the the top end, nvidia can no longer compete with ati.

I'm neither an ATI or Nvidia fan, I simply like to get the card that represents best value for money at the time I buy, and most Nvidia cards don't fall into that category at this moment in time.

Id reccomend a 2nd hand nvidia from the usual sources.
    1. cos itll be cheaper than getting a lesser one brand new
    2. i love em and have had no issues with them

you should be able to get a 8800 GTS and have money left over or even a GTX or if ya lucky an ultra. Theese are basically the 9 series and cost less than them

I use toms webpage for reviews
