    Default Older tom tom one

I was showing my tom tom go 510 to my mate at work and telling him how, with the help of this forum and Russ in particular, I managed to update to the latest map, cams and postcodes. he has a TT one, not the new one with the flash memory but the earlier one with and SD card. He wants to have new maps etc. on.
I am led to believe that the new map, cams, codes etc. that I used for my Go will be ok for his device but I'm not sure about the navcore (the patched tomtom app replacement..I think). the one I have used successfully is titled TT v8.011 Go X10. this works a treat for my device (510) but the title sounds like it's for 510,710,910 only? Would this work for a TT one or do I need a different navcore? If so, any pointers as to where to get it would be great. Am I correct in thinking the maps, cams, codes are the same for both devices?
Any help, advice would be very welcome folks.

Think that software version will work for him - just make sure you do a back up copy first or use a different memory card. All maps cams & any extras are all the same.

I think you need a patched version of the firmware, but at Russ said as long as you use a different card or back up you can't go wrong. My Onev2 is running 8.002.9117 at the moment (I have the files for 8.201.9497 just not tired it yet)

8.002.9117 has basic IQ routes and Lane Guidance (I know the mp3 function does not work on the one)

Thanks guys, will give it a try this week. Wouldn't mind a copy of 8.201.9497 if it's available.

    Further to this folks.
Tried the update on the old TomTom, seems it's a ONE the first version. Worked, as recommended on a spare memory card, keeping the original for backup.
After putting all the stuff on the spare mem card the thing just locked up on the first screen and refused to budge from there. I tried the card in mine and it booted although, as is expected, it said the map could not be used, no surprise there as I authorized the map with the code from the other TomTom. Just for interest I then tried the original card from the older machine in mine and the same happened, just locked on the first screen. Both devices work properly with their correct cards in which makes me thing that the app..the NavCore may well be different for these two machines?

On a slightly different topic, how is it that the keygen easytools thing sometimes fails saying..no meta text found? When I use a newer version of the tool it seems to work, for a bit and then the same happens meaning I have to use a yet newer one..what is this meta text and does it kinda time out,,,you know expire?

Can anyone shed any light on these two matters, the second one in particular baffles me (not that that's the hardest thing in the world to achieve)

As new Meta files are made available they are added to the Meta document included with the easyusetools (have a look in the folder named 'progs') you can use notepad to open the Meta file on your PC & you'll see if the Meta info is there for the map you want to activate. Never known them to expire, but if you're using an older Meta file & trying to activate a new map then the Meta info may not be on the Meta file.

That's explaining a lot Russ, thank you for that.
So then if using a new version of the easytools and getting a "no meta text found" failure I must be doing something wrong, but only sometimes? is it so important to copy it, as has been said before, to the root of the drive? (do I copy the whole *.rar file there and then extract it there too?) Just seems a bit hit and miss, I must be overlooking something.
