Kilroy's 'Celeb' exit seen by 8.7m

I'm A Celebrity's first eviction was a ratings success on Wednesday night, with an average of 8.66m (35.9%) tuning in over 90 minutes from 8.30pm.

The latest update from the jungle, which included Robert Kilroy-Silk's departure, peaked with 9.24m (37.6%) at 9pm.

An hour-long episode of Coronation Street preceded I'm A Celebrity with 9.33m (40.6%) from 7.30pm, following on from Emmerdale's 6.83m (32.5%) at 7pm.

The audiences combined to boost ITV1's overall primetime share from 28.3% to 32%.

BBC One had a relatively poor night, falling from a share of 18.7% to just 16.1%. Little Dorrit hit a new low of 2.62m (11%) at 8pm, down 1.2m week-on-week, then Wild About Your Garden enticed just 2.44m (10.1%). In the 9pm hour a New Tricks repeat picked up 3.73m (15.4%). The channel's top audience of the day was 5.57m (27%) for The Ten O'Clock News.


A new episode of Oceans brought in 2.42m (10.1%) to BBC Two at 8pm, then Heroes followed with 1.65m (6.8%). Spinoff show Heroes Unmasked logged 0.9m (3.9%), then BBC Three's premiere of the next episode was seen by 818k (4.7%). BBC Two's average share was 7.7%, from 7.8% last week.

On Channel 4, the second episode of Civil War drama The Devil's Whore logged 1.87m (7.9%) between 9pm and 10.10pm. The figure is significantly down on last week's impressive 2.71m (12%) debut and put the channel fourth for the slot. The drama was preceded by The Home Show, which had 1.35m (5.6%) in the 8pm hour. Overall, Channel 4's share fell from 8.5% to 6.4%.

Five had 1.08m (4.5%) for new documentary series Combat Chefs, then a poor 621k (2.6%) for Dangerous Adventures For Boys. Its share fell slightly from 3.8% to 3.2%.

Elsewhere, Hollyoaks delivered 1.81m (8.7%) to Channel 4 at 6.30pm, then 697k (3.8%) to E4 at 7pm (+1: 73k, 0.3%). Hollyoaks Later picked up 674k (4.3%) in the 10pm hour (+1: 195k, 2.5%).

On Five, Neighbours had 1.53m (9.3%) and Home & Away had 1.03m (5.3%).
