    Help Good DECT Home Phones

Hi, i'm wanting to buy a set of 3 digital cordless phones as a christmas present. Apart from obvious plus points like quality phones and clarity, I was hoping to get phones that you could personalise different incoming ringtones so that groups like family or friends would have a different tone than unknown callers, or even being able to record the name of the caller. This is easy to achieve with mobiles, but haven't come across a DECT phone that can achieve this.

Hope someone can shed some light on this

Actually been looking for something similar but not too much luck. The nearest I have came however is the Siemens Gigaset SL565 (or the SL560 if you dont want answerphone). It does seem to be able to set personised ringtones for different people but only polyphonic not mp3.
Also at £190 for three they are not cheap, although Im gonna try and persuade the missus today cause I really like the look of these.

    Check out the Panasonic range.

Just to add, got the Siemens Gigaset SL565 yesterday. You can personlise ringtones to any caller but only in polyphonic so no chance of names being called. You can also have a picture of whos calling if you set that up (not sure how to get pics on atm), it has bluetooth so putting phone numbers from my mobile was quite simple. Looks nice but the base may not be as child proof as many people would like, ie a good knock to the phone while on its stand looks like it might break the connector off. It was next to a panasonic phone in the shop and although the panasonic did look better the specs were not as good and it was only £10 cheaper. Got it from Currys at £160 for the triple handset too.

Just another edit to the above post, you CAN record names and have them called as the phone rings. You can add ringtones and pictures but those require a data cable which I aint tried looking for yet.

Cheers for your replies chaps. I opted for the Panasonic KXTG8323 at a shade under £80, as it was a gift for my parents for christmas. I would have considered the Siemens if it were for me, but I thought it was safer to have fewer functions on the phone but have excellent build and use quality.

I'll have to test the phones functions once it's unwrapped on the big day itself!
