Default Some more shots from last night in the fog

Where I live, there are lots of trees and I think trees, lights and fog make for great opportunities.

The first two are of the same tree you see in the car shots. These images were brighter in Lightroom and CS3 but they appear darker as JPEGS. I tried bringing some more light in but it starts to make the image look bad.

    A portrait and landscape version

This is an avenue just round the corner from the road I live on - Springwood Avenue

And a Desaturated version of this shot (not totally to b/w though as it didn't look right)

Two shots of the copse of trees at the top of the road I live on (about 30 ft away from my home)

Looking up the other way. This is the same road the copse is on looking up towards houses

Finally, another shot of Springwood avenue this time including Light Trails. However these ones were caused by some poor soul on a bike with a flashing rear light

Yeah like I said, they were lighter in processing but the JPEG's seemed to be really dark. I've tried to bring in some fill light and up the exposure but it blows out the light behind the trees and causes some weird stuff happening in the image.

Appreciate the C&C of course and thanks for the compliments

I like the 3rd, 5th and last. The way the lights are hiding behind the trees, produces some nice silhouettes . The first 2 seem too dark (or could do with a bit of a crop) and the others seem too bright in places.

I know nothing about photography but the ones I mentioned seem to stand out more.

    Thanks Beerman.

The reason you see some bright spots of light is because of long exposures with street lights in the frame. These shots are 5 - 15 seconds with the addition of the fog causing the light to spread out more

That second one is a cracker. Too late to comment on the others, nice colours in the first two but they need something else, just can't put my finger on exactly what though. Anyhow, nice pics mate, well done for getting out there and doing it.

Like the last one out of them all ,composure seems different (apart from the light trails) think its a slight contrast difference on the first tree that makes it stand out more .

3 & 5 do it for me. The 3rd one looks really good with the glow/colour from the street light.Very spooky looking. Not sure about the desaturated version especially when you have the other one to compare it with next to it.

As said before, the first one looks like a really good shot but too dark.

LOL those first two are going to haunt me forever

That said, I'm viewing them on my works screen at the moment and they're a hell of a lot darker on it than my own monitor at home which is calibrated as best as I can calibrate it.

Um, maybe a couple of you could push up the brightness on your screens a touch to see if they improve? I think you'll find the other images (inc. the car ones) will look a bit better as well maybe? I know from past experience that a few of my images have looked a little darker on some of your screens than mine

Thanks for the comments though guys. Appreciate it

Well captured shots DP. It's great watching you take on everything with your cam, real workhorse

3 and 5 are the pick of those, great shots which would look good in a frame...
